First Class Saeling Product
Bought this product on the advice of a neighbour and have used it to effectively seal my block paving, the results are excellent and as long as the correct preperation before applying the sealer is followed the finish is greag. It is a high quality product and I am very impressed by the finish on my block paving, I would recommend Smart Seal as the go to product for block paving sealing.

What a difference
That was one coat used on drive look at photos 50 litres. Should have used a long haired roller mite have been better had to use a brush to do the joints as I was using to much product on roll to try and wet the joints. Brush was lot better on joints and save product. The product makes the sand in joints to Solidified so defo won’t come out and weeds won’t grow from top as the usually do untreated Mine was mat finish and not slippery when wet even on that slope and the water beads like it dose on a waxed car. Very impressed I will definitely use again.reviewed after a week and after it has been rained on all good 👍

Far Greater Coverage than it says on the TIn
The coverage on my new paving slabs was far more than stated so I over ordered. I ordered 4 tins for one coat and I only used 2 on a 40 sq m drive way. So don't order according to the coverage recommendation. Order one or two and see how far it goes. This really annoyed me as I had then ordered a 25 lt tub but I manages to cancel the order even though the supplier had already sent it out. So hats off to the supplier. The up side of this is it was not as expensive to do as I thought it would be. But still quite expensive. For all the aggravation I went though trying to stop the order it only gets 3 stars.

Very Strong Smell that Lingers for Days!
I applied this to the substantial block paving in my back garden. I was pleased that the solution was quite thin (pretty much nearly the consistency of water) as I was using a standard Spear & Jackson 5LPAPS 5 Litre Pump Action Pressure Sprayer, usually used as a water sprayer, so if the product was too viscous, it wouldn’t flow through the sprayer. That being said, the sprayer started malfunctioning before I completed one coat, and eventually, it gave up all together. I believe this was due to the fact that I started using the sprayer, then left it whilst I used a roller on the edges. By the time I got back to using the sprayer, I’m pretty sure the solution had started curing inside the spray nozzle and trigger. In hindsight, I should’ve did all the bits with the roller first, then used the sprayer, applying the product as quickly as possible. With this sealer, you’re only going to get one use out of the sprayer, so in my opinion, the Spear and Jackson sprayer is the most practical option for spraying the product as it’s not very expensive, and you might need an extra one as a backup, depending on how much area you need to cover. My block paving is very light grey, and goes dark when it’s wet. I didn’t want a glossy finish, so I was pleased to have found a product that provided a matt finish. The thing is; however, although it’s matt, it will still leave a bit of a glaze, and if your block paving is light, it will make it permanently dark. Not as quite as dark as it gets when rained on, but noticeably darker than it would be without the sealant, so be aware of this. Be advised: I only managed one coat before running out, even having purchased more than enough to cover my area. I applied it only as needed to properly cover each block, including the sand filled gaps, but I ran out of product before I completely covered the intended area, so I firmly believe that the specified coverage is seriously inaccurate as it totally depends on how porous your paving is. The product (in my opinion) is quite expensive; however it’s preferable than having to do an extensive jet wash and dig out moss from the gaps after every winter, so in my opinion, leaving block paving unsealed is not an option. Although it turned my blocks darker than the original colour, I’m please with the quality of the product, as in how well it seals. As I mentioned, I only managed one coat before writing this review (I will apply another), but it has rained since, quite a deluge in fact; however, no water managed to penetrate the paving (highlighted by the area I hadn’t managed to finish). Also, dried bird droppings just brush/scrape right off (with an acceptable amount of effort) without staining, or having to jet wash it as I had to do in the past. This is my first experience with block paving, and hadn’t realised that it should’ve been sealed from new (I forgot to mention that much to my regret, the installers never mentioned anything about sealing the paving immediately after installation, so I’d gone two years, jet washing and scraping moss from the joins before I realised that you simply shouldn’t have unsealed block paving!) You should wear goggles but you definitely need to wear a good mask that will filter out particulates as the product has a super strong smell! And (depending on the temperature and wind, which will determine how quickly it dries) the smell could linger for many days, and if you have neighbours on each side of you, they will smell it too, so it’s best to apologise in advance. The smell will also permeate the house, particularly in the room immediately adjacent to your block paving if the paving goes right up against your house, so I strongly recommend that you close all your windows, and cover any outside air/venting bricks with tape whilst applying the product. I didn’t do this with the first coat, and deeply regretted it.

Happy with the results
I found that instructions' estimates (6m^2/litre, for both coats) was well-over, but returning has been easy and it's better to have too much than too little. Coats were saturated, I was not being stingy with the application. I used a non-specialised sprayer, which is now useless, but I gave both coats with a 4 hour gap and closed the squirter to keep the fumes circulating and stop the sealer from setting. I.e., it the sprayer was good for both coats, but then dead. Obvious now, but I should have covered adjacent walls when spraying to stop them from getting a light coat. I had a couple of quite wide gaps which I topped up with drive sand. The spray pressure, blew this out and for coat-2, I added more sand poured a little sealer, carefully on, which worked well. After coat-1, the sand was rock-hard, which was impressive. I wore old cloths, old wellies (now also sealed!), marigolds and a face mask. I didn't feel the need to wear glasses, and didn't feel that they were necessary. The 25-litre barrels have a plastic cap for pouring or you can unclip the whole lid and use a jugs to fill your sprayer or roller buckets. Good design. Happy with the results and have a 25-litre drum, now, which is bound to be useful for something.
