I recently purchased the 3M Rodent Repellent Coating to prevent rats from causing damage to my car's engine. After a rat chewed through the wiper water pipe, I knew I needed to take action. I applied the coating as directed and was happy to see that it was effective in deterring rats from entering my car's engine compartment. The coating itself is easy to apply and dries quickly, leaving a transparent layer over the surface. It has a strong smell when first applied, but it dissipates over time. The repellent properties of the coating lasted for a few months, during which time I did not see any rat activity in my car. However, after a few months, rats somehow found their way back into the engine compartment and caused some damage. I'm not sure if this was due to the coating wearing off or if the rats found a way to bypass it. Nonetheless, I plan to reapply the coating and continue to monitor the situation. Overall, I would recommend the 3M Rodent Repellent Coating for anyone who is dealing with a rat problem in their car. It's easy to apply and does seem to be effective in deterring rats from entering the engine compartment. However, it may not provide a permanent solution and should be used in conjunction with other preventative measures.

We have a big rat problem in our apartment complex and lot of cars have been affected. Just last week rats sneaked in my seltos hood and chewed off the ac wire. On suggestion of my local car workshop owner, I got this for my seltos. It seems to be effective, but it is too early to confirm the longevity of this. Some pointers: Get the engine bay area washed before applying this. This will leave a clear shiny layer on the areas where it is sprayed. Spray when the engine is cold. Use a 2nd layer spray after 1 or 2 days. Use 2 masks and sunglasses / eyeglasses when you spray this. The smell is very strong when you spray it and if there is wind, it can enter eyes and burn. Make sure you put some newspaper or cloth over the windscreen glass, as when I was spraying with bonnet open, some part of spray went to the glass and it formed small droplets which are rough to feel and very difficult to take off. I had a hard time to remove from front glass. Car shampoo didn't help. Finally I applied a little acetone on it and it seemed to work, but the acetone cleaning can damage glass or leave residue. So I applied them in small batches and asked my cleaner to wipe it off with colin glass spray immediately.

Useless product, I purchased this by looking at the reviews but it didn't help. I sprayed nearly half of the bottle one time and then very next day morning, I saw left over food and dropping of a rodent. It was able to stay there and eat despite of this odour caused by the repellent. Can you imagine the repellent effect of this product. Totally waste of money.

Spray is good, but quantity is less. It can only be used once. Had a smell when applying, use mask while using. Also cover the windshield by newspaper while applying.

Since the day I have used, haven't found the little foot steps that could be seen on the entire engine cover and surrounding areas. Looks like it actually does its trick of keeping rodents away.. need to check how long it lasts.
