Teen Finance Made Simple
This book offers a thoughtful introduction to personal finance, tailored specifically for teenagers. It delves into everyday financial challenges that teens may face, such as managing their money, understanding taxes, and learning how to build wealth early on. The author breaks down key concepts like budgeting, saving, and investing in a way that’s simple and easy to grasp, making it accessible even to those who are new to personal finance. I especially appreciate how the book moves beyond theory and provides practical, actionable advice. For instance, it offers handy tips on earning extra money through side hustles like babysitting or dog walking, explaining how to set realistic savings goals from those earnings. There’s also a section that goes step-by-step through reading a pay stub, which can often seem confusing. I found the section on filing taxes particularly useful, with clear explanations about deductions and credits, such as the Earned Income Credit and Education Credit, which are often overlooked by younger people. These practical examples make intimidating topics like taxes feel far more approachable. What I love most is that the book doesn’t just focus on personal gain but encourages teens to give back to their communities as well, offering simple ways to incorporate charitable giving into their financial plans. All in all, this guide is a nice companion for teens who want to take charge of their financial future with confidence.

Excellent Teen Book for Financial Literacy
Sherman comprehensively reviews relevant topics to engage and inform teens about financial literacy appropriately. As a practicing CFP® Professional, I found this book thorough and thoughtful. Including activities and questions at the end of each chapter may help with teen follow-through. Chapter 2, about money beliefs and personalities, fits nicely with the new CFP® training on the Psychology of Financial Planning. Finally, the FastTrack checklist is a good action summary at the end. I liked this book.
