the sound quality is quite good. Not the best I've ever heard
I just got this device, so who knows how long it's going to last. But as of right now, I am ecstatic. Most of the other reviews were right. When playing music, the sound quality is quite good. Not the best I've ever heard, but still good. The reason I made the purchase was for the sound cancellation, however. I've never used something like this before, and I think it's great for just how much it muffles everything, especially if one has a noisy air conditioner. While it's true that it doesn't reduce higher frequency noises quite as well, those can be muffled with some white noise. And it really does make you feel like you're underwater. A very distinctive sensation. I almost wish I could sleep in these.

Nice headphones if you are not looking for a great noise cancelling
I bought these headphones almost one year ago.(+) Comfortable. My ears are normal size and these headphones are super comfortable for me, but that is very personal and depends on your head size and ear size. I dont think either the ear part gets hot comparing with past headphones I had. At least it is not something that bothers me when I use these headphones.(+) Fits for small heads. My head is kinda small, so sometimes it is hard for me to find over-ear headphones small enough for my head. For example, I got the Skullcandy Crusher headphones and those are too big for me, they are pretty loose in my head not the case of the vQuiet ones.(+) Sound quality. I am not an expert and maybe I am not too picky, but I like how these headphones sound. I tend to destroy all my headphones so I have had a bunch of them. As I said, once a decent quality of sound is reached maybe I am not too picky, but I am happy with these ones in terms of sound.(+) You can use them even when battery for noise cancelling is not there. I think some headphones needs battery even to reproduce music without the noise cancelling function on. With these ones, I got the noise cancelling battery dead for long time (I super rarely use that functionality), and you can still use them as regular headphones.(+) Design is pretty cool.(-) The wire stopped working properly after 8 months and I had to replace it.(-) Noise cancelling. I am not an expert in active noise cancelling either. However, I tried a friend's Bose noise cancelling headphones and you can feel the difference (you can feel the difference also in the price). I would say these headphones reduce the background noise but that makes voices come clearer? Also you remove background noise but you get a extra white noise from the device... I am not sure, but I wouldnt buy these headphones for noise cancelling.Summary: If you are not looking for a great noise cancelling performance, these headphones are pretty nice. Sound ok, size ok for small heads (maybe not for a kid, but yes for a girl head which usually is smaller than a guy head) and pretty comfortable for small to regular ear size at least.

One Star
They sound good, but that’s it, everything else about it doesn’t work. No buttons no nothing.

Just OK. Good for the money.
Works fine, but noise cancelling function is not as good as I has hoped, especially when using with lawn mower.

Design Over Functionality?
These headphones look great. They were designed by the owner of Velodyne, an artist? I tried these with poor results. The ear cups are non removable and barely fit over the back of your ears, normal size men's, in the cups. The cups are pleather and a bit too mushy for me. Problem is a constant fiddling with the fitment ruins the listening experience. Moreover, the sound quality is nothing reference audiophile quality at all. They struggle with both the Highs AND Lows because of an annoying midrange. The mids literally overpower the sound by muddling and just become very annoying. Now, the Active Noise Cacellation feature. It's a joke. It just doesn't work. Yes there is that familiar white noise hiss. Problem is you can hear everything going on around you no matter if it's on or off. The sound called pouch is not included, know that now. When I questioned the tech support at Velodyne, the kind rep told me they had to "pull all the carry pouches" out of the product boxes because customers were reporting that they were "moldy". What? Yuck. The original price V quiets is ridiculously high at two ninety nine, and are definately worth only ten percent of that price at best. For forty US dollars I gave them a shot. They do make some nice subwoofers. Headphones, not so much. I did sixty hours of burn in before any critical listening. No. They probably should just be pulled from the market like the pouch. Ever heard of a "silica" packet Velodyne? Lastly, the build quality is that of a prototype! They were missing a small rectangular pad covering the screws on the inner left ear up (there's one on the right side). Ugh, no. Back to my V Moda M100s I went. I ended up returning them for all the various stated problems above. Truly a good waste of forty dollars. Don't waste your time with these. Learn from my mistake, please!

This does the job for me
I needed some decent over-the-ear type of noise cancelling headphones and tried various versions from Sony and others over the years and this vQuiet headphone is the best one I have purchased so far. Very comfy to wear for maybe 1 or 2 hours before it gets irritating, but it does a pretty good job of cutting out noise when you turn the unit on. It takes batteries, but you basically recharge it when it needs it and does that pretty quick. Really nothing wrong I can see with these headphones, they really look good, are comfy for up to 2 hours and really do the job of cutting out outside noise quite nicely.
