This is a wonderful product. It fit our stairs, and I felt safe and secure using it to go up and down stairs. I had bought another stair climbing product but it didn’t fit our stairs and I didn’t feel secure or safe using it on our carpeted stairs.

I have two failing knee joints and am having to wait on surgery due to another medical problem. This step aid has proven to be invaluable in going from floor to floor in my house. It's stability is outstanding, quality of build is excellent, and overy all added safety is remarkable. The one addition item needed on the unit was a a method to carry my cane when going up and down steps. This was easily solved with the purchase of a small cane clip, found on Amazon, that easily attached to the frame of the step unit.

Not sturdy

It is better than using just my cane to climb stairs, but not as good as having a banister to grab and pull against. Seems sturdy. Distance between the two sets of feet is fixed so your stairs have to have at least a standard width front to back to accommodate the stair climber. Wider is ok but narrower is not, check the measurements if you are not sure. The stability makes me feel more secure going up or down as compared to a cane. I have to lift it up to the next step, or down, so it does slow travel. It is a little heavy to lift but manageable.

I bought this for my elderly parents to use while they visited my house. It really helped provide more stability while they went up and down the stairs. It stores easily in the closet until we need it again.

I've never seen anything like the stair cane it's so simple and practical. if you don't have handrails on both sides of your stairs, its difficult for most of us, who are elderly, to climb them. I thought about a chair lift but that is so expensive.The chair cane gives me two supports on the left or right to lean on, plus the handrail, and takes more wt off my bad knees. I'm 84 and wish I had know about this simple but practical devise sooner.Thank you Amazon !

Saved thousands of dollars $$$. No costly time consuming projects. Just take out of box and snap together for your heighth and you are ready to go. Enjoy your stair cane.
