Good quality for sketching in a variety of media
An excellent sketchbook and at a good price. It's not premium 100% cotton paper but it's a decent quality at a fraction of the price. The paper is a natural white colour and has a slight texture, not as much as a typical cold pressed cotton paper but still evident. At 200gsm it will buckle under the application of very wet paint but it's heavy, and robust enough, to stand up to light watercolour washes with minimal buckling and with no bleed through. For me this sketchbook excels as a surface for pen and wash sketching. There's enough of a surface to give a little character to the line and the paper is heavy enough to take the necessary washes. I also like how versatile this book is as it's also great for ink drawing or pencil work. It's also able to cope with gouache and acrylic work. When out and about I much prefer a hardback and bound sketchbook as it gives a good support to the surface and allows me to sketch across onto the adjacent page if needed. The A5 size is ideal for me as I can throw it in a simple, small bag and the landscape format enables me to capture panoramas or sweeping vistas if desired.Thoroughly recommended.

Really nice format and good quality
I have been using the cartridge square sketchbooks from Seawhite for many years and I love them, but they don't take watercolours very well. This is the first watercolour sketch book from Seawhite that I have tried and am very pleased with it.The binding is strong, and well made; the quality of the paper is good and heavy so it takes the washes without buckling. It is also an easy size to carry around on the field and you can fit a nice panoramic painting on it's format. The sketchbook has a ribbon marker and a good strong elastic that wears well to heavy use.The surface of the paper is slightly textured, but it does not fall into "Rough" texture category but it handles felt tips well.I have been using a Zig Millennium 0.05 pen and several finer Microns and you can get a decent line on it. But if you are doing botanical painting this sketchbook might have too much texture for the job. With 28 pages, it is light enough to take it in long hikes, but I wish they would make a second version with more pages for the studio work as the format permits to paint taller subjects.I highly recommend it.

Lovely to work with
I like how this little A5 watercolour sketchbook was so easy to sketch in during my travel to Bologna. Small enough to be carried in my backpack and to do quick sketches on the spot. Thick enough not to buckle after many layers. Smooth surface. Lots of pages to work with for the prices This is my 2nd watercolour sketchbook from this local manufacturer.

Lovely for watercolour
Really good paper, not too rough to draw on but enough weight, texture and sizing to take light to medium watercolour washes and to lift non staining colours easily. I wouldn't use very wet washes as it would cockle a bit then.

Good quality pad.
Quality is very good, but in my experience, the sizing can sometimes be a little uneven or maybe excessive in some places. Despite that, a great value sketchbook for watercolour, I love mine for plein air painting. Would buy again.
