Product Description Why we developed the Nightynite® Safeguard Moses basket mattress The toxic gas theory all kicked off in the late 80’s and was claimed it was the cause of cot deaths. It was later discredited by a government report, however a few people still claim that toxic gases can be present if the urine comes into contact with the fire retandancy components within the foam. When these gases are breathed or absorbed by a sleeping baby they can cause cot death or sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). These claims have NOT been scientifically proven NOR totally disproven some would say by the government report. The supporters of this theory claim that if bodily fluids reach the foam mattress core and are left for a period of time, (over 3 months) then they react with the fire retardancy chemicals in the mattress and this may cause a gas called stibine gas to be produced, Stibine gas is highly toxic. There are all sorts of scary things to read on the internet about cot mattress wrapping, you may have already read some of these! We developed the Safeguard range of crib and Moses basket mattresses to combat the fears of mattress wrapping. These mattresses have a completely sealed foam core that no gas could get through and no liquids could penetrate. Having a sealed mattress means maximum breathability must be maintained by the cover. This can be achieved by using a Microfibre or Coolmax© and Maxi-Space cover which is fitted to the Safeguard Moses and crib mattresses The pad is made from Combustion modified High resilient foam ( CMHR) 28 kilo Foam with no added Antimony or Phosphorous. 28kilo foam is the acceptable standard for a baby mattress; some companies will use a lower grade to meet a price point. About Your Nightynite® Mattress Coolmax and Maxisapce Cover COOLMAX© and MaxiSpace Cover can be machine washed at 60°c the temperature require to kill dust mites. It does dry quicky and a verylight tumble is all that is required COOLMAX© and MaxiSpace will help regulate the body temperature by wicking away heat and also help with moisture control. Coolmax© is a complex fabric as droplet is is absorbred by the fibres it is pulled to the to the outside the Maxispace which is a open cellular fabric will help disperse the water. The COOLMAX© and MaxiSpace fabric holds a lot of air and will aid breathability COOLMAX© and Maxispace is a soft snugly luxurious fabric to lie on Taking care of your Your Nightynite® Moses Basket Mattress The NightyNite® microfibre cover is easily removed for machine washing at 60°c the temperature require to kill dust mites, your cover can be tumble dried on a cool temperature. In the unlikely event that any body fluids get though to the pad you can just wipe the foam pad with a mild Milton or Detol solution Zip your Microfibre back on and you have a new lovely hygienic mattress again for your baby to sleep on.
