Don't waste your time and money!
After 1.5 hours reading and setting up product, it leaked all over the house. Although the directions are in English, the wording, grammar, and overall instructions are difficult. The product came with an additional trouble shooting sheet which seemed friendly enough until set up was disastrous. I purchased this product for my daughter since she has a loft style bed which gets quite hot in the summer. The cord for the product is very short and requires additional extension. The "mattress pad" is cheap latex. It reminds me of an inflatable toy. The tubing and attachments are cheap and the remote control battery cover is made like a gum ball machine toy. Overall, what started as a great concept to eliminate an air conditioning unit in the window (both traditional and portable units require a window) the product is nothing more than an inconvenience and disappointment. I took time writing this review to save someone else the time and energy. Although we have central air in our home, the upstairs gets hot during the summer.

Product does work to cool down your bed and there are some design improvements in this new model.
This is my second model of this product. The first one was called "Ice-Sheets" but it came from the same company. It lasted about six months before it broke. It's a pretty expensive item to have to replace every six months, but it does work, so I'm trying the updated model and hoping it will last longer. The updated model does have some design improvements. The most important one is that the water reservoir is much bigger. You need to keep the water level correct or you will have problems: too low and the alarm will start sounding in the middle of the night; too high and the reservoir will overflow when you turn off the machine. So the good thing about the larger reservoir is that you have much more leeway between too little and too much; I've been using the product a couple of weeks and haven't had a problem. I have to add a lot of water every day, though. I can't figure out where all that water is going; that's a lot of evaporation for what is essentially a closed system. But it doesn't seem to be leaking. The previous model was supposed to be filled with distilled water and hydrogen peroxide, in order to prevent algae. This model is supposed to just use tap water, so I hope I don't end up with an algae problem. We'll see.As with the old model, you get a very poorly translated instruction manual, along with a note from the US distributor telling you to ignore all the incomprehensible instructions in it. I was able to figure out how to use it.The main problem I find with the updated design is that the water hoses come out of the back of the unit. This means that if you put the unit down toward the bottom of your bed, the unit has to face the wall, which defeats the purpose of the new, sleek design of the front of the unit. You can't turn the unit around because the hoses can't be bent at right angles. The instructions state that you can run the hoses off the side of the bed, but you really can't do that because that would bend the hoses at right angles and the product wouldn't work. Your only real options are to run the hoses off the head or foot of the bed. If you run it off the head of your bed you can run the hoses up behind your nightstand. I would not want the machine that close to my head because the fan is pretty loud. If you run it off the foot of your bed you will probably have to sit the unit on the floor, facing away from you. Unless you have a table at the end of your bed, you will not be able to elevate the unit, as is recommended. I have the unit on the floor and it works fine. The remote control is, as far as I can tell, completely useless. As I've pointed out, your options are to put the unit next to your head, on your nightstand, or at the foot of your bed, facing backward. If the machine is right next to you, it doesn't make sense to use a remote. But you also can't use the remote when the unit is at the foot of your bed because the remote only works when you point it at the front of the unit. So I don't use the remote. This product does what it says it will do. It does keep me cool at night. It is much more affordable than the one other comparable product. I just hope it lasts longer than the previous model.

Cools you but is uncomfortable for us
It does the job of cooling you but you will have to get use to the feeling of 1) water running you - while this isnt a strong feeling you can still tell. 2) the discomfort of sleeping on something made of plastic. This we a deal breaker for me spouse as she found it to be too uncomfortable. The comfort factor beat out the hot flash factor and we had to return.

Missing pieces. Lousy customer service.
This arrived without all the correct pieces. There are wires inside the tank where water should go. There is a hole on the bottom, and we are not sure how to plug it.We don't know if it's going to work. It does not seem like a quality product, and the customer service has been crappy so far.

Good idea, bad material
Bought Cool Buddy in Jan. The cooler works great, maybe to good, had to set on lowest setting and wrap pad in towel to make it comfortable enough to sleep on(cool setting). About a month and 1/2 into it woke with a wet pillow. Pad had devoleped small pin hole leaks. I called Cool Buddy, CEO responded with letter and two new pads. I'm now 4 months in and I've gone though 3 pads. Cool Buddy has sent me two more pads, but I don't want to have to pay for more pads after this($10). Going to try and return

Leaked :(
I'd have given five stars but it started leaking after two months of normal use. I didn't notice the leak until it was too late. The leek was on the bottom side. Needless to say it ruined my temporpedic. I'm hoping my mattress will dry out but it isn't smelling to good. I probably let it leak for a few weeks. I changed my sheets and found it had leaked and mold was just starting to grow. Bummer!Besides that I've never slept better. Super bummed, no pissed off. I took really good care of it too. :( I don't know how to get replacement pad :(

Good cooling, hose a little short, but works well.
This was a replacement for a different brand of cooling pad. The advantage is that this seems to be MUCH cooler (if you set it to 5, maximum cooling) and doesn't require purchasing distilled water. I used it on the 5 setting my first night, and had to get up and place a blanket on top of the pad and under the bottom sheet because it was uncomfortably cold. The pad itself only has a 90 day warranty, and is considered "consumable." It is obviously made in china as the directions were not clear, and it appears to be somewhat fragile (plastic housing and hose connections look to be made of slim plastic material). I'm only using it for cooling, so I haven't tried heating with it. The connections from the tubes to the pad are a 90 degree elbow, so not something you can lay on top of (so I pushed it to the top of my mattress). The tubing is fairly short, and it requires that the cooling unit sits higher than your mattress (I think a minimum of 7 inches higher). It does use water each night and has to be refilled every few days. It does make noise when running, but about the same as other cooling pads I've used. I'll update this on durability as time goes on.
