... written story is a bummer as its really not fun to always make up a story for a toddler ...
It's an interesting book but the lack of a written story is a bummer as its really not fun to always make up a story for a toddler and they learn from a standard written storyline. The predictability and quessing what word/animal comes next was missing and my toddler got bored after a few weeks.

holding the book in one hand and start narrating the funny part in the story
When I received the book and thought it was just another picture book which my six year old son would simply discard after a glance. He took the book in the hall, went through it very quickly and came back to us running, holding the book in one hand and start narrating the funny part in the story. He said, baba, it is a nice book!

vibrant colours
This book was a bit smaller than I thought. I think a big board book would have been better to see the painting like pages. What I liked about this book is it gives the reader full freedom to build the story along pictures. It also introduces animals to baby. My 7 month old is yet to understand the story but loves to watch me go through pages.

Interesting book
My son loves this book. Since there are no words written it makes every narration different and keeps my toddler's attention

We love this book.
The book was delivered promptly, especially considering it was shipped from usa.We love reading this book to our 1.5 year old. Our baby loves looking at the different animals and there's enough detailing on each page to engross and entertain the child.

Too expensive n not at all worth
Buying this book is total waste of money. Hard cover books with good story can be bought at much cheaper rates

Loved it
Giving it full star, as it's a very engaging story when I tell my toddler. Even she says it recites it looking at the pictures

Almost wordless but hilarious comedy
Nighttime at the zoo. Keeper is checking on everyone. The gorilla though doesn't fancy being caged tonight and sneaks out. With very few words, we watch gleefully as he tiptoes behind the keeper, using his keys to let the other animals out. Now do they cause havoc, mischief and mayhem? Nope, they trail after the keeper for a good night's sleep. The visual humour is on point, with very simple but effective illustrations that my son and I laugh aloud at - a black page with just eyes open on it gets me every time. It's rather sweet, and very funny, with the humans never going to win completely against the wily animals.A lovely lesson in how words aren't always necessary to convey the story, and really does let a parent and child tell the story together themselves. A little one can even 'read' this by themselves very easily. For ages 2-6.

a unique and wonderful book for early development
This is a great book to encourage interest, engagement and language in young children. A unique picture book which allows children to use their communication at what ever level to engage and feel successful. As a speech and language therapist, I would recommend this book for schools, other professionals and parents. It is a great resource to encourage joint interest, single words, sentences and discussion.

Good Night Gorilla
I first came across this book in the library and read it with my first grandchild. He reqested it every time he came to my house and I had it on long term loan. When my next two grandchildren came along I realised that I had to buy the book. I was pleased that I bought the gift box because my grandchildren have to hold the gorilla when we look at the book. It is very simple but so amusing and the pictures tell a huge story. There is the little mouse with the bannana, it lets go of the balloon that floats into the sky, the balloon and the moon is on every page except one. The children point it out. When all the animals go into the bedroom, my grandchildren like to do 'good night' in all the different voices and love the two surprised eyes of the zoo keeper's wife when she realises that there are animals in her bedroom. The clock by the bedside shows the change of time. The children are 20 months, two and a half and five years old. The one of five still loves it and 'reads' it to the younger ones. It is the best children's book ever!

The illustrations are beautiful and with a LOT OF detail
An absolute must have book! We keep reading it almost every night, now a bit less as I try to get new books too. However, we keep taking it on holidays, etc. It encourages the child to develop the story as it does not have words - other than goodnight ...so-and-so...". The illustrations are beautiful and with a LOT OF detail, so there is always some new detail to spot, e.g. from colours -cage and keys, animals and their toys, sub story of a little mouse dragging a gorilla's banana everywhere, etc.

A book without words
Actually, there are a few words, but all the action is left to the story-teller. Little gorilla steals the keeper's keys and lets out the other animals one by one in a procession. Eventually the keeper's wife puts them all back - all except little gorilla. A lovely pile-up story for animal recognition, memory and recall, with the repetitive text "Goodnight . . . (name of animal)". In this large format, we have used it with a small group, but in any size it is a delightful story for pre-schoolers, and it is versatile enough to be used even with key stage one.
