I am a recreational fisherman and live near the sea so its easy to get my rod and my gear and take a walk to fish for bass and various flatfish from the beach near my house. I have been fishing for years and to be honest only occasionally catch a bass or flatfish big enough to keep. I always fish at low tide and when its on the turn. I have resented for years paying for live bait at the local angling shop as its very expensive and so I took a chance on the recommendation of a much more experienced fisherman than myself and I bought a pack of these Sand eels and in particular the light orange colour. I went out at my usual fishing time and fished the area that I normally drop my bait in. On the second cast using this lure something took my bait. As I only had a light 3 kg line on I had to be very careful in retrieving my catch and I was dreading that I may lose the fish as it bolted away several times making my reel screech and sending me into panic mode. I managed to land the fish after several minutes and was really pleased to have caught the biggest bass that I have ever caught in my life in that fishing area. During this same fishing session, I had previously tried three other coloured lures and then I changed to this sand eel lure and hit the jackpot. It could have been a fluke that the bass just happened to take that particular coloured lure but it made me a very happy man and I have the bragging rights now amongst my fishing friends. See Photo. I now aim to go out again in a week's time and see if I can get another decent result.

Been using these since February and they have proven deadly for inshore Pollack in anything up to around 60 feet of water. As long as it's not too windy and you're drifting <1 knot they can easily be fished just on the end of your line (although an extra inline swivel means you can add a length of flouro and make these things even better). Compared to frozen sandeels they tend to pick out better fish and they also mean less deep hooking. In deeper water or extra tide we've fished them on the end of a boom setup and they have been just as effective.The only time they don't work is when there are visibilty problems, we noticed the catch rate crashes when the plankton levels increase. In which case it's always handy to have either the Mac-Fire sidewinders to hand or a cheaper option is the Black or Black & Pink powerbait worms ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003ZZK9XU/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=6738&creativeASIN=B003ZZK9XU&linkCode=as2&tag=a0b7a-21 ) . But overall these are fantastic lures and you should have no problem getting 20/30 fish per lure before they start to fall apart.

Used these when trolling for pollack with a paravane. Worked a treat and lasted well. I don’t think I lost one fish after a take. Highly recommended 👍

Good price & speedy delivery, ive caught a few decent fish with these mainly pollock definitely glad I got them, going to try another colour & maybe get some smaller 1s & use from the shore
