I bought this because my whole house is carpeted and I used to hire Rug Doctor regularly. I decided it was time to own a machine so I can clean whenever I need to without paying extra each time. From the very first use I could see the difference — the amount of dirty it pulled out was shocking. The suction power is much better than I expected. Some reviews mentioned the machine is heavy, but I found it very manageable and flexible in use, so the weight wasn’t an issue for me. I purchased the version with the extra tool and it turned out to be very useful. The best part is that you don’t need to pre-mix the solution with water — the machine does that automatically. Overall, great performance and very good value for the money.

From the very first use, I noticed a huge difference in my carpets after using this machine. It's not too heavy, even with the generous sized water reservoir completely full and is very easy to use. I used it initially on a particularly grubby carpet and it did a very decent job, getting it almost completely clean. In terms of use, I basically did as it said in the manual and activated the cleaner on the forward motion and deactivated on the backward motion, moving slowly and progressively, and that did a good job. The carpet wasn't too wet after using it, and it even improved the pile a little. The spinning brushes and good suction probably help with this. It only comes with a small bottle of solution, which is good for a smallish/medium sized room, so if you are going to do several carpets in one go, invest in a suitable bottle of the cleaning solution. It is good stuff though, so worth picking some up. If you register the machine, you also qualify for a 6 year warranty. All in all, very happy - especially at the discounted price.

The carpet cleaner machine is reasonably heavy but as we expected. It is fairly easy to use and one of the main reason for selecting this Vax is that it works on all material carpets unlike some other carpet cleaner machines. The suction is strong and using the Vax carpet cleaner solution, it is effective in cleaning light marks on my rug.the dirty water is a show of how much dirt is removed and is the factor which made me realise I should have cleaned the carpets sooner. I have not got any dark stains anyway so unable to test for now. My other half cleaned the carpets using this Vax machine and felt the size is ideal as they managed to clean the bedroom carpets quickly. Drying time was quick which is very useful as we don't have to account for overnight dry time. The 6 year warranty fills me with ease and makes the product worthwhile.

This is the best carpet cleaner I've used. It's easy to use. It is quite heavy but it does the job. I've a 7 year old carpet & a dog who leaves dirty marks! I used it once & I can see the difference. The carpet is clean, for the 1st time in years. It's very easy to clean, the dirty water compartment has a lid that comes off easily. It has a solution dispenser that you fill, the machine then mixes the solution with the clean water. The brushes at the front move to scrub any stubborn stains

We purchased this as a replacement for our old "George" carpet cleaner (which worked fine but was a bit of a faff to set up and which finally gave up after several years of use). This machine was super easy to set-up (practically idiot-proof!) and after about an hour's use (and half-a-dozen dirty water tanks later) we are thrilled with the results! There is a noticeable difference in the colour and cleanliness of the carpets and rugs we've washed (and we have two, rather muddy dogs!). It is rather heavy, but it is a quality item and you'd expect it to be a bit weighty.. especially when the tanks are full of water. We were lucky to find it in a sale as well so all-in-all we're delighted with our purchase!

Brilliant machine! My current Bissell one is nearly 10 yrs old, so I needed an upgrade.... On the first use, I was absolutely stunned by the amount of dirt and pet hair it pulled out of a fairly thin, but well used rug on a Deep Clean, bearing in mind this particular rug is hoovered daily and washed every couple of months at least! Ill be doing every room of my house on a regular basis with this now. If you have pets, I highly recommend this! Yep it is heavy when the water tanks are full, but it does hold a lot of water, so it's to be expected. You don't have to fill the whole tank of course, if it's too heavy for you. It is quite a chunky machine, so you'll need a decent space to keep it, bigger than you're average upright vacuum. Fairly loud, but again what to expect, given the job it's doing. Easy to empty out, clean out and refill. Not sure how you can access the tubes and hoses to clean those, I haven't ventured into that yet.

I used it for the first time today. It feels like a professional piece of kit. I'm so impressed. I like how everything comes out for cleaning. No filters clogging up after five minutes like other models of I have used. The suction is strong. It is quite heavy but manageable. Definitely value for money. The build quality of this machine is very robust. I would definitely recommend this if you are looking for a quality carpet cleaner. It has brought my carpet back to life. I cannot believe the dirt that came out of my carpet.

The carpets in our house were in need of some attention, as they've been here since before we moved in and were a sorry state. The Vax does a good job of getting the stains out, and the filthy water was a clear sign it was doing its job - but it wasn't without some trouble. Firstly, the spinning brushes weren't doing much spinning to start of with. They eventually started working, but not with the sort of force advertised - in fact the attachment tool loses basically all of its power when it comes in contact with the carpet. That said the attachment does do a decent job of stains, better than the main unit, just not as good at scrubbing as expected. Secondly the water tank doesn't fit very nicely on the machine, there's a big gap around the outside that makes it look like it's not connected. Overall, I'd have hoped for a better build quality on what is a somewhat expensive item. Also, there's a lack of any carry handles to easily get this thing up the stairs, I instinctively reach for the tank handles, as there's nowhere else clear to carry it from, but that just causes the tank to detach. Overall it's an alright carpet cleaner, but let down by poor scrubber performance and a disappointing build quality.
