Dangerous
Got a fingertip caught on the blade accidentally. Really nasty cut. At least the blades are very sharp...

Description of number shipped was all wrong
Item stated there were 8 to a pack, but the package I received had only two of these. They work as well as any I've had but I don't like being duped so that these cost a lot more per unit than they should have.

Works great and really affordabe
I bought these for masking when painting cars and they work great. You can cut the plastic or paper without worrying about scratching the car. I use them for opening plastic packaging, envelopes and anything else and they work great.

Okay
They dull up a lot faster than I expected. Also, within 10 envelopes, every one I have used so far (3 of them) has gotten this little piece of paper stuck in corner where the inner sides meet in the "V" area (by the end of the blade). The second this happens, it's annoying to try to use them. I don't think this is the products fault, per say, but I do find myself missing old school letter openers. Though, I am also the type of person who prefers to wash dishes by hand in lieu of the dishwasher, sooo, I like a LOT of old school things making me rather biased in this regard. I would still buy them again though, for the price, they rock.10/10 would buy again!

can cut you
The only thing I didn't like is that the opening that you slide what ever it is you are cutting is too wide and your finger (esp little fingers) can easily be cut. so beware before buying that you can't leave it around children or animals. Not that you would but just in case treat it as if it were a knife.on the same note, since the opening is so wide the material you are cutting can bind up since so much of it gets pushed into the slot to cut. you have to pull up and cut, which i'm cutting vinyl stickers, and usually trimming off edges so it doesn't work, i end up reaching for my scissors.

Removes Matted Fur in Dog Grooming
We have a wolf hybrid that gets severely tangled mats in his coat. After trying numerous different tools with limited success at best we had a tip suggesting these. They do a fantastic job removing matted undercoat fur as well as burrs and twigs. Our dog now enjoys his grooming for the first time ! (I'm sure they would open envelopes just fine but haven't used them for that. :)

Great for cutting wrapping paper too
I love these letter openers. I got them for wrapping presents. The value was great compared to other wrapping paper cutters which sell for 10.00 a piece! I won't do that again. They are just as sharp and easy to hold on to.

DANGEROUS TRASH!!!
First, I actually feel guilty for forgetting and putting off writing this review before now, because I perceive this letter opener as quite dangerous! This tool has an extremely sharp blade that is used to slide through envelopes and packages - I mean sharp like a razor blade! It works quite well - until it breaks, and it breaks at the base of the envelope insertion point. This is the blade-protector part that you slide into the envelope that breaks off, hinging downward and exposing your fingers and thumbs on both hands to possible serious laceration! This device is poorly made and dangerous!Since the openers come in a pack, I just carefully discarded the first one - hoping the breakage was an anomaly. But, again - shortly after I began using the 2nd opener - I felt the insertion point bending down and pulled it out to look at it. The black plastic was bending and stress-discolored at the same point. When I touched the end, the point fell off, completely exposing the blade! If you want to use one of these to open only a small handful of lightweight envelopes, before discarding, these might work for you, but be aware of the danger! The manufacturer clearly did nothing to test the durability of their product before putting it on the market.
