This is a pretty nifty yoyo that is great for learning how to do various tricks. The way it is designed makes is much easier to work with than a regular old-school type yoyo, and the 10 years olds are loving it. I don't know much (anything) about yoyos myself but the boys wanted this one and they love it. They say that they are able to do all sort of cool tricks and special kinds of loops and such with this yoyo that were nearly impossible to do with their previous ones. All I know is that they're happy, and when they are happy, I am happy. They tell me that it deserves five stars and that they would recommend it to their peers, and that's pretty high praise coming from these boys, indeed.

This yoyo is co-designed by a popular yoyo competitor and influencer and is intended to be a more premium beginners yoyo with design qualities to make learning specific tricks easier. This is the plastic version which brings the cost down. The yoyo is bigger than average, has a wider groove, and has deep side wells which are intended for finger spin tricks. The wider groove is to make learning various string catching, etc tricks easier. I do think it does a good job at those aspects. I wouldn’t say that this yoyo performs much better than cheaper yoyos you can find on Amazon in terms of bearing smoothness, balance, spin time, etc. It’s build quality is good but also doesn't really seem any more impressive than many of the nicer lower cost options. This yoyo is on the pricey side for a plastic model and to be honest I wouldn’t say it’s a great value. This is a good yoyo with specific design advantages but in terms of comparing the physical product there are many nice plastic and even metal yoyos that come with a case, unresponsive bearing kit, a pack of additional strings, etc for half the price or less. This yoyo is rather bare bones in that it’s plastic and only comes with an alternate bearing but not a case, additional string, or anything else which you would kind of expect at this price point. You’re essentially paying a premium for the specific shape of this yoyo. Whether thats worth the cost is obviously up to the individual. This is a well made yoyo and it performs nicely but because it’s a little more of an investment I think its better suited as a second yoyo once you know if you want to get more serious with the hobby and put effort into more advanced tricks.

First of all, I should start by saying that this seems to be a great gift item. It comes in a small, flimsy, but nice package, and the yoyo itself looks wonderful. The price, at $40 CAD at the time of order, is not cheap, but gift items are not supposed to be cheap. It comes with the replacement parts to switch it between a responsive and an unresponsive yoyo. Basically, a responsive yoyo is the basic kind which is easy to bounce up and down, and an unresponsive one is the kind where you do some tricks with it. I like that this offers you the choice of changing, so it is a great item to start with the basic and move to an advanced level if you want to. However, and I am no yoyo expert, I felt like the responsive mode was not great, but the unresponsive mode was wonderful. I imagine the size and the weight distribution is geared toward an unresponsive type and even for a rookie like me who never tried it, it was great. The yoyo would spin for a long time at the end of the string in a fixed place without losing balance, without wobbling, or without starting to turn around the string. With the responsive mode, I felt that it had a tendency to turn around the axis of the rope. There were no instructions in the box, but a QR code led to some YouTube pages with demonstrations and explanations. Overall, I liked it. I would not recommend it for very young kids as the unresponsive mode would be hard and the responsive mode is not the greatest. Similarly, I would not recommend it for those who want a yoyo in only responsive mode, that would certainly be very expensive. However, it is great as a gift item and it is wonderful for those who want to move to more advanced tricks with the unresponsive mode.
