I got this for a weekend camping trip in Wyoming. Worked great for purifying stream water. Came in dirty and left perfectly clear. We also brought a life straw but it was just too slow sipping through it so having this was a life saver when we needed a bit more water for the whole fam. Highly recommend.

I purchased this for my significant other who loves hiking, camping, several day long kayaking trips, etc. to ensure he has enough water and in case of emergencies. He’s sampled it and says it works very well and simplifies the filtration process. Great product! I will buy again in the future if necessary.

As presented, this is a great unit. it takes the lifestraw concept and enlargers upon it with additional water supply methods, power pumping, and prefiltering.The quality of the components is great, and the built in battery of the pump, charges rapidly.Everything packs up in a nice case. I do wish they did not fold the hoses into a tight loop as they took a set with kinks. It is more of a surgical tube material so straightening it out, removing it from attachments and working it into a true circle has helped, and I have stowed it as such.The literature mentions a replacemet filter kit consisting of 2 prefilters and 1 main filter but there is no manufacturers contact information in the literature or on the box, just a reference to searching Amazon, which turns up nothing.I contacted the seller and they said they were expecting a new order within a week or so and they would let me know.Hopefully they will come through. Even though the filters can be backflushed and reused for a certain number of times, i am really a fanatic about being able to get consumable supplies and replacement parts for items.In the" old days" companies were sometimes almost institutions, and supported the things they sold, now you are lucky if you can locate whoever made your product, and if you do often anything over a year old is considered a "legacy" product!We complain about waste and yet make everything that it needs be discarded after a short time!The availability of filters is definitely important if you intend to use this as more than a "bug-out" item.

The water at my apartment has a heavy chlorine taste. After using this filter, no chlorine smell or taste. It takes a good 15 minutes to fill a gallon of water.

Pros:- Easy to assemble- Fast flow - about a minute for a full glass of water- Water after filtration looks clean and tastes good, it removed bad tap water taste- Even if the battery dies, you can still use the second stage (post composite filter) for manual filtration. Moreover, it can be directly screwed onto a standard plastic bottleCons:- The hoses are quite thin and flimsy. It is easy to make a sharp bend that will block the water flow- The first stage (pre-filter) has holes on both ends that have to be submerged in water for a smooth flow. Otherwise, a lot of air gets sucked into the filter. This may be a problem if the water source is shallow.- The filter has a strong plastic smell after opening. I hope it goes away soon.I have only tried it with tap water in the US, but I plan to use it to filter tap water in Egypt next month. I will update my review then.
