Fantastic way to destress
I wanted to get one of these mat sets a long time ago when they started appearing on my instagram feed. I follow a lot of health and wellness accounts. I could never pull the trigger, even with a sale because they were just so cost prohibitive. I then just stopped thinking about it because the hype died down. Then when I saw this available, I jumped at the chance to try it. Plus the price of this set is a spit in the bucket compared to the name brand one I was looking at.I personally think this set is very well made and definitely worth the price. The discs are placed so evenly on the mat and pillow, just like the picture and they seem very sturdy and secure. I see no problems with the fabric, no seams about to come apart and I feel the cushion inside is plenty for me. I am using it on the floor and wearing a thin t shirt. I find the size to be plenty big to cover from my lower back to my neck and head with the pillow. Yes, there is some getting used to it, but it didn't take long. You just need to evenly lower your body onto the mat as you are getting on and off. I have a hard time just relaxing and doing nothing, so this has helped me to relax for ten or fifteen minutes at a time and I feel it is more productive than just sitting or laying down on the couch, which I never do. I probably need to work on that. Anyway, I do find it very relaxing and feel it definitely helps with stress as I feel myself wanting to fall asleep while using it! I would definitely recommend giving this one a try if you have been looking for one and been on the fence.

Some benefit
I am an acupuncturist so I was intrigued by this item. I realized quickly that it is not like acupuncture or even acupressure because the contact points are not specific to an acu point for a specific issue. So if you take all that out of the equation, when I used it on bare skin, it felt intolerable to me, but when I laid on it with PJs or lightweight clothing (I targeted my low back), I found the sensation soothing. I actually rocked my hips side to side over it and it felt good. I did try the pillow and I did have hair to buffer the prongs and that also felt good. So, my takeaway is that you cannot compare this product to acupunture or acupressure, but it does feel good and does help those areas to relax a little.

I like this mat!
I wasn't really sure what to expect with this order. I've tried lots of different products for relief from back pain and stress. I've had motorized massagers, back rollers, vibrating or heating pads, etc., but this is the first time I've experienced acupressure - and I was pleasantly surprised that a passive device like a pad could give me the relief it gave me.The pad is made of lots (thousands?) of little plastic points on little plastic disks. They tell you to always wear a t-shirt and not to use it directly on skin, so of course I immediately laid on it shirtless. The platic tips give the effect of a very dense bed of nails. Individually they probably would hurt, but when you have so many all at once it's very tolerable.I'm not sure what the science is on this, but it works! It's a very stimulating experience, and I can say for certain that it helps with sore muscles and even with stress and tension. I'm pretty certain this is helping with stress headaches and anxiety, in addition to the relief it gives to my sore muscles. The pad is in a pleasant purple color, and comes in a bag - kind of looks like a small sleeping bag when it's all wrapped up. It has an included pillow that let's you get relief directly on your head and neck. The pad is large enough to work on your whole upper body, yet small enough to put onto a chair if you spend a lot of time in front of a computer.I've very happy with this product and I think it's something I'll use pretty often. Highly recommended.

Questionable benefit
As someone who was an acupuncturist for over 15 years, I am not sure what to think about this acupressure mat set. There are a lot of acupuncture points on the back, and I think of the thousands of little plastic spikes on this mat as kind of using a shotgun blast approach—you’re bound to hit an actual acupuncture point.I’ve been laying on this mat for 15-20 minutes every night before bed for 2 weeks now. I’ve been having some insomnia, so I was willing to give it a try (because it’s easier than trying to do acupuncture on yourself). It can be pretty uncomfortable if you lay on it with exposed skin, but it’s doable; with your skin covered is fine/not too uncomfortable. I have NOT been able to tolerate the little pillow on the back of my neck/head. I need to try again with a pillowcase over it.So, for the first 5 nights or so, I’d say I actually slept better than I had in over a year. But, since then, all the other nights have been hit or miss (mostly misses).I think this mat is good at increasing blood flow to the back, and increased blood flow means increased nutrition to the tissues, which can help with general health and a healing process. But, without a specific point prescription based on what each individual is experiencing, it’s going to be very limited in what it can do. I do think the vendor needs to be careful of using words like “Treatment of Insomnia,” because the FDA does not take well to disease claims.
