Review: The above selections don't really apply to a Tolkien analysis like this. David Day is well-known in his field. The binding and artwork are beautiful, the research is interesting (even some insights I had not previously read), and it's definitely a unique collectible for us Tolkien buffs. Review: me pareció muy bueno, está muy bien explicado e ilustrado, lo recomiendo ampliamente para cualquiera que quiera saber más sobre la historia de la tierra media

This book IS NOT an analisis of battles in Arda. Mr. Day devotes only half a page for each battle and he totally overlooks the Dwarven ones. This book BRIEFLY explains conflict's motivations and players but NOT ANALIZES battle tactics at all! This book feels like the introductory volume to a book series which will analize each battle in Tolkien universe in deep. Dwarven wars and battles included, of course. They contributed to diminish the number of available Orcs for Sauron's campaigns, after all. I not-so-humbly suggest Mr. Day he'll put more effort into his next works. And perhaps to also seek an militar tactic expert's counsel for that book series I mentioned above. Which would be a real companion to Tolkien universe. I honestly expected more from an cartographer and Tolkien scholar than this subpar work. So, if you are interested in whatever literary wells Tolkien drank when plotting his works this book will be good for you. If you were hoping for a real in-deep analisis of medieval warfare in fantasy worlds, battle tactics, and geopolitical influences and consequences you will end as dissappointed as me. I LIKED the cover and interior design of this book very much, however. One and half stars go to their creators for so deliciously recreate the whimsical feeling of Tolkien's fantastical works. The remaining half a star goes to David Day for telling a Viking-related little tidbit about Thorin Oakenshield's battle charge tactic in the Battle of the Five Armies in The Hobbit. I know where go to find more about Dwarven battle tactics, now!

Gerçekten çok güzel. Baskısı cildi çizimleri. Her şeyiyle harika bir eser. Elime ulaştıktan 5 dakika sonra aynı serinin bir başka kitabını sipariş verdim.
