Q: Hi, does this product colour the boots at all as neutral not clear?

This will go onto the boots as clear. If you need to cover scuffs or scratches then please consider black/brown versions as appropriate.

Q: Has anyone compared these to Huberd’s or Nikwax in terms of waterproofing effectiveness?

I haven’t used either of the other products on my boots. But bought the leader gris for my Altbergs, as that was what was recommended. I haven’t had an issue with yet. And I’ve put my boots through some pretty rough and wet terrain. I’ve been out in 60-70 mph winds with torrential rain for 5 hrs at a time. And although I do sometimes get wet feet, That’s, generally because my boots only come up to the ankles! And if you are going to be submerging your boots, this is a pretty good care package to keep the leather in good shape. Hope that’s of some help.
