Very powerful magnet, works for metal studs
Fantastic little metal stud finder that just works and assuming its not thrown around, its magnetism should last a very long time. Note though that since this is essentially a magnetic ball, it will only work to detect metal studs. If you have wooden studs, then this is pointless. One thing I did notice though is that this is not great at finding the center of the metal stud. I’ve seen people use small metallic lines to indicate either end of the stud. I found it tough to figure out the edge with this although the golden rule of studs being 16 inches apart helped to verify what I found.

Works
I wish I had ordered a magnetic stud finder prior to June 2024 because I struggled with locating the studs in our downstairs full bathroom shower/tub. The shower is tiled so all three of the stud finders I own did not work on tile (I already knew it would not) so I had to locate the studs on the exterior wall of the house then transfer those measurements into the shower/tub, which was not easy because there is only a small window above the shower. So I had to use a laser level to transfer the stud locations up the exterior wall then thru the window.I was installing safety grab bars in the shower prior to construction starting in the upstairs master bathroom, putting that shower out of commission for one month, and both myself and my spouse are senior citizens and the downstairs shower/tub did not have safety grab bars (wife had fell before in that shower so we stopped using that shower five years ago).Upon receiving this magnetic stud finder, I did test it on the shower tile to see if the claim that it works on tile is true (because the cheap magnetic stud finder I have is not strong enough and cannot penetrate tile) and the result is that it “kind of works” but not 100%, but it is better then the cheap one I have. I do plan on using this magnetic stud finder to install two additional safety grab bars in the upstairs master bathroom. It would have came in real handy in June/July 2024 when we started our whole house window replacement project. A lot of time was wasted trying to locate hidden nails in the exterior window trim that were concealed under a really good paint job.Is this the best magnetic stud finder available, answer is no. But its better then the small magnet stud finder that I already have (about the size of a pencil eraser.) The suggested MSRP is not cheap but does not break the bank. The red color stands out if you throw it into your toolbox, so easy to find. I plan on attaching it to the nail puller I use. I am giving it a 4 Star rating, minus 1 star because it was not able to locate some of the nails behind the tile in the shower.

Very strong magnet finds Steel studs and drywall screws easily
I use to use a small neodymium magnet to locate studs that my stud finder couldn't locate due to electrical wires, but this is way better than that. All you have to do is loosely drag it across the wall until it snaps to a location, I give it a light tap with a hammer so there's a mark left and the go up and don in that area to find another screw to mark then I draw a light line with a pencil to mark the stud.Works great!

Powerful magnet
This is a cool and very powerful little magnet that I think I will find a lot of uses for in the future (stud finding, etc,). However I don't understand the pricing, which is $16.99 at the time of this writing. As you can see in my picture, it's a very small little magnet with a silicone casing. But it works as advertised!

Accurate and easy to use.
When I install shelving or pictures, especially heavier pictures. If it’s possible, I always try to find a stud so I’m happy to have this little handheld device that is accurate and easy to use. You can just keep it in your pocket as well. I do not like to put the Molly system on sheet rock walls. I’d rather have the security of being able to locate a stud. When I can’t find a stud, I can always revert to the Molly system of attachment. The accuracy of this locator is nearly 100% in my case.

Magnetic Finders are Less Expensive, and They Work.
This is very very simple tool. It is simply a magnetic ball in a silicon (rubber?) casing with a little "tail" for a handle. All you do is slide it over the wall until it finds a screw head. Then, go up and down to verify you are on a stud. To find more studs, move over about 16 inches (for most modern homes) and repeat the process. It works.I think that with this design, the silicon increases the distance from the screw head to the magnet which reduces the pull you feel when you cross over a screw. If you want it to be more sensitive, you can turn the finder around, and run the steel ball on the wall, but it might leave a mark.I've tried a couple of electronic stud finders, but I always seem to go back to the magnetic ones. I've never been able to get an electronic one to work consistently. With a little patience, and by methodically scanning the wall, I can always find stud with the magnetic finders. In the past, I have used the CH Hansen finders. They have two magnets and a little spirit level built in. I think having two magnets increase the area it "searches," and the level is "accurate enough" to help locate a vertical stud. Given that the price is about the same, I think I will go with the Hansen in the future.

Works better and more exact at pin-pointing than my electronic stud finders!
The 52300 Studball, 27 Pounds of Pull Power Magnetic Stud Finder, No Batteries Stud Finder works so much better than my two electronic stud finders. It finds nails faster and pin-points them more accurately. It makes marking of location so much easier and exact due to its small size. It's sturdy and durable and able to be carried in a shirt pocket. The magnetic ball is very strong and will not mark or mar surfaces. I'm extremely satisfied with the quality, performance and accuracy of the 52300 Studball, 27 Pounds of Pull Power Magnetic Stud Finder and consider it an outstanding value!

Item is much smaller than it appears
The pictures are exaggerated. This item is smaller than the short strap of your apple watch..Had a hard time finding studs and for the price point is NOT worth it. It's a strong enough magnet for me to maybe use to test my pots and pans but other than that it's not worth $17.
