Better than scratch
I’ve made hash browns from scratch, from frozen, and from fridge section. These are hands down the best classic diner-style hash browns. The reason is because even when you reconstitute them, they area still quite dry. The worst hash browns, in my opinion, are from scratch…unless you leave them on the counter to dry for an hour and/or use paper towels to aggressively press the liquid out. These will quickly cook, the shreds stay separate, and they crisp up because they aren’t too full of moisture.Love these and since they don’t sell them at my local grocery store any more, I buy them in bulk here. They’d probably last a lifetime on the shelf unopened, but likely only a month before we eat them all :)

Never expected them to be this good!
So easy, had to get used to how I like to cook them and definitely need to be rehydrated well before starting to fry but where have these been all my life? Lots of uses other then just fried up too. Can add to soups and make casseroles. One container is too much for two of us but I can’t imagine this serving four hungry people… we do eat bigger meals less frequently. Price point is ok, had looked at a bigger container but it wasn’t tgaf different and these small cartons are so easy to just pour hot water in and wait like the instructions state. Permanent place is not in my pantry for these.

Pretty solid product
Taste-wise, this is maybe too salty but hey, it tastes like real potatoes. A far upgrade from the instant mash I've been eating. You're supposed to add hot water, let it rehydrate, and then fry it, but I just eat it without frying it (but adding hot water). You can add all kinds of sauces, and healthier this way.
