A good solution to Sony's oversight
While I'd certainly prefer that Sony had provided an integrated method for attaching an eyecup to the A7Cii/A7CR, Smallrig has done a great job coming up with a viable alternative. The other 'solutions' rely on the hotshoe for attachment, which I find both kludgy and annoying. I was apprehensive about the way it appears to just slip on the top of the camera, but once I had it in hand I saw that this method is not only unobtrusive, it's quite secure. It stays in play even with the camera swinging at my side with the eyecup against my body. Oh, and the eyecup itself is very nice - comfortable and well designed.

Sort of Fits on A7C
It is actually a bit loose when fitted onto the A7C. Not a perfect solution for the A7C, but better than nothing!

Hinders vision and not soft enough
Hinders viewfinder vision and not soft on the eye. Otherwise fits well and offers a secure safety catch so you don’t lose it in case it falls off.

Finally!
I was debating about which accessory I wanted for my A7CII - the thumb grip, or the eye piece, since most of the options don't allow you to use both since they use the hotshoe. Well, Smallgrip not only made this beauty, but also made a thumbgrip that has a coldshoe on top so you can at least still attach something like a video light or other accessory (no hotshoe extension, unfortunately, which I would happily pay for). Amazon literally dropped these off 10 minutes ago, so no idea how well these will hold up, but so far, zero wiggle on either piece. Coupled with the baseplate with wood grip, these accessories completely upgraded the ergonomics of the camera (admittedly at the expense of a little extra weight and fiddliness). Just became a very big Smallrig fan.

FINALLY AN EYECUP THAT WORKS FOR THE SONY 7CR
thank who ever came up with this. The nonexistent eye cup for the sony A 7CR, has been an almost just return the camera issue. the fix has been a eye cup that uses your flash hot shoe to secure it making on camera flash impossible. This new one clips onto the camera and even has a little lanyard in case it were to be knocked off
