Deep Blurple..
This was on my list for a good long while, and my only regret is delaying the purchase. The other commenters are correct - this is a pretty stunning katana for the price. This could easily be one of the highest value (sword) deals of 2025, along with the LSWYBJ (Blue Blade) katana. There's a ton of junk out there being passed off as a legitimate sword - read (study) all the comments, look for the blade thickness, look at the Habaki area, and most of these will show themselves to be ornaments and decorations. Finding the legitimate, high-value, "good stuff" takes some effort and risk, but it is still possible, and at a bargain sometimes. THIS is one of those good deals.. This is my first Towatiwe brand katana, and everything appears to be fitted very tightly together - no wobble or rattle. The (28.75") blade is beautifully polished, straight and sharpened. That purple color plays lighter and darker, as you wipe down the blade - very much like hot bluing does.. I haven't yet whacked it against anything stiffer than cardboard, and it is so nice looking that I almost don't want to.. ..ALMOST.. The Tsuba does not attract a magnet (as most made today don't), but the tang does until the last 2 inches of the Tsuka handle. That detailed Tsuba is the same design Siwode uses on their Graphene Dragon katana (Fengwolongtan). The Tsuka handle is 10.5" long, and doesn't appear exceptional, aside from being nice to look at. The Samegowa is artificial, but I'm fine with this design choice. I did not notice any hot spots from that decorative (swirly mitzidome pattern) Fuchi collar, before I wrapped it with a tight wrap of hockey stick tape - which also remedies any potential hot spots, as it prevents the diamonds from moving out of shape. The Kochira pommel has one large "swirly mitzidome" that matches the Fuchi collar very nicely, if that is a concern. Point Of Balance is 5.75" from the Tsuba. Blurple does have a (slightly) tip-heavy feel due to a minimal distal taper, but not so much that it ruins the balance in hand. Sori angle is an optimal 13/16" which is the same as my Siwode and HMS katanas. Weight is 2lb and 7 ounces (without the Saya installed), which is mid-weight compared to many other katanas. The Saya/Habaki fit is perfectly adequate, with a snug tension and zero blade slap. The appearance of the Saya matches up with the katana fairly well, considering the contrasting color scheme of so many others. The painted pattern does mask smudging from fingerprints better than the standard "fingerprint magnet" glossy-black piano finish on most Saya. Packaging was adequate, with 6 pieces of U-shaped Styrofoam and a plastic sleeve, inside of the Towatiwe labeled box. The blade also had its own plastic sleeve. ---Everything did arrive very clean and pristine, but I would (seriously) recommend some end pieces to protect the product from the (exposed) staples inside the box - even some cardboard cutouts would do the job. Expect to get yourself a sword bag because no sword bag or sword stand was included, but none were mentioned. Fortunately the product box arrived inside the plain, nondescript (and much appreciated) Amazon shipping box. Honestly, the quality of just the katana alone makes this a pretty great value deal already. Recommendation: Absolutely. I have zero regret with this katana. You are seriously missing out, if you've been eyeballing this katana and pushing it back (on your list), just as I did.. Lastly, because of the dark bluish/purple color, I ask Towatiwe to consider naming the this katana "Deep Blurple," or "Blurple Reign," or just "Blurple," maybe.. ..If for no other reason than just my own selfish amusement..

Exceeded expectaions
I customize affordable "Knives" (Samurai Swords), and I dissemble each and usually change hardware, paint and Tsuka/Sageo wrapping to possibly make them look better. This knife was easy to work with, a rare bonus. Even the Mekugi pegs were sanded on each end, (nice touch!) of Proper length and were fitted snug, but removed just as they should. The Tang was Clean, filed, and needed just a few wipes with baby oil before re-assembling with custom Tsubas, Fuchi and Kashira. The standard waxy glue used to make Ito weaving tight and easier for the factory artisans to wrap, was easy to remove and replace with strips of double sided tape which is a must for tighter wrap that I want. The Saya! Sturdy. Even the Koiguchi (mouth) was even, clean and as good as it gets--especially at the price point. Truly, an "alright!" discovery and better than most of my higher end knives. The blade was straight, even Bohi, but maybe a "tad"heavy. a heavier Tsuba helped that for balance--a Subjective detail. This is my third(?) Katana from them. That's the bottom line for me. >>Craftsmanship--six stars, not five.

Just a beautiful sword
I bought this for my oldest grandson. He loves it. The build quality is excellent. The cost was spot on and the build quality is fantastic. It weights perfect in the hand and is very functional and the grip in perfect.

I like this; it will work as a collectible, usable item in my inventory.
This is a beautiful, well-made sword. Don't run it over trying to prove it is not a lightsaber or the legendary Excalibur.

FANTASTIC
Ok so we'll start here, I love swords, I'm somewhat of a sword buff, although most of my knowledge is European swords, this is my first katana, and I am absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the quality of this sword for its price point. Most other swords at this price are just wall hangers (partial or rat tail tang, poor balance and a blunt edge) But THIS is not the edge is sharp I wouldn't say razor sharp but is definitely functionally sharp, in terms of weight I think it has an EXCELENT balance, like said this is my first katana so I don't particularly have another reference point about the balance but I definitely love it. I will be buying a second and performing a stress test, I will return here and edit my review with the durability results but even if it breaks really easily or and a dumb way that likely won't change my rating. Edit: So, after my stress test, I have learned that this sword is defiantly not hardened at all, with that having been said I am very satisfied, the handle fell apart and the Tsuba broke off, but honestly, I am very impressed. The blade bent in a few spots, the VERY VERY TIP folded it DID NOT BREAK until I tried to bend it back, the edge had some chips and rolling, but it can PROBABLY be sharpened out if you know how to use a whetstone, with that all I would defiantly buy it again. Itis definitely a very good beginner Katana or even a good first sword.

Good quality for price
Aesthetically the sword is great, the blade can look almost red in sunlight and nearly black indoors, the handle wrappings are decently tight, the only flaw in construction seems to be an off center Habaki, the blade is mounted centered and it fits the scabbard normally so it doesnt bother me.
