EXCELLENT BOOK
excellent book by James Leighton, you showed people Dave the footballer and Dave the gentlemen, i would advise people to ignore any negative review you see in regards to the family not endorsing the book. These reviews are misleading and are not the truth. The family have endorsed the book and if you read the first few chapters you will see input from the family members.I am David youngest brother and me and my sisters have endorsed this book and for all football fans and especially Arsenal fans this is a very good read... Well done James for finally having a book out on my brother people Aresnal fans called Rocky

Gooner legend
Very thoughtful and well composed book. It's all here. A true Gooner legend. Spent an evening with him in Ludenscheid nightclub after an U21 match vs W.Germany in 1987. He truly loved Arsenal and all the club represented in those days. We worshiped him then and still do. Well done James Leighton. Thank you.

Was a great read and insight into David's life
Was a great read and insight into David's life. If you're an Arsenal fan you'll know most of it or watched most of it in VHS! because I wasn't even born when Rocky started his career. You'll get a deeper insight into things you never knew about Rocky and be even surprised, and shocked... like Chapter 17...

Fine footballer, fine man
This is a timely biography of a man who was not just a brilliant footballer but was also clearly a lovely person, a million miles from the kind of player that we read about all too often in the non-sports pages of our morning newspapers. For all he achieved in the game – two league championships, a League Cup winners medal and fourteen England caps – it is clear from reading this book that David Rocastle would have done much, much more had a succession of injuries not had a devastating effect on his career. If the early curtailment of his playing career was heartbreaking then his death shortly after, at the age of just thirty three, was an act of supreme cruelty. Never was the question ‘why do the good die young’ more pertinent. This book is an excellent reminder of just what a fine player Rocastle was and perhaps more importantly what a fine man he was as well. It is not a perfect biography; I found it a little confusing, and occasionally annoying, that chapters on the seasons when Rocastle’s career was on the ascendancy alternate with chapters when it was on the decline when it would surely have been preferable to have ordered the book chronologically. Also, whilst I am aware that illness and death are difficult areas to write about, in comparison to the rest of the book Rocastle’s death seems to be hurried through. We read about Rocastle finding the lumps that caused him to be diagnosed that he was suffering from non-Hodgkins lymphoma and then within relatively few pages he has lost his battle for life.David Rocastle will always be remembered at Arsenal but it would be a shame if he were to fade from memory elsewhere. Hopefully this book will help keep his memory alive.
