Product Description From the creators of The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child comes Room on the Broom, a beautifully animated film based on the best-selling children’s picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. This is the story of a kind witch who invites a surprising collection of animals to join her on her broom, much to the frustration of her cat. When the gang saves the witch from a fearsome dragon, she rewards them with a magnificent new broom with room for everyone! Room on the Broom is a magical tale of friendship and family directed by Max Lang & Jan Lachauer with the voices of Gillian Anderson, Rob Brydon, Martin Clunes, Simon Pegg, Sally Hawkins, Timothy Spall and David Williams. Review I need to start out by saying, that Room on the Broom (available August 6th!) is not a Halloween movie. The movie is based on a marvelous Julia Donaldson book and is a great read for any time of year. But, seeing a witch on a broomstick reminds me of Halloween. I can't help it. And that reminds me of fall -- my favorite time of year. But alas, we're still in the middle of summer so I better enjoy that while it lasts. Room on the Broom comes from the same people who brought us the fantastic Gruffalo DVDs (also based on Julia Donaldson books). If you have a young child and haven't seen these movies, you and your kids are missing out. I don't say that lightly and not very often, but these movies are just that great. They are high quality and meaningfully done. Not only that, but your kids will be absolutely captivated by them. As a bonus, they are educational because you can read the books with your kids and then compare and contrast the stories and talk more about the characters and little literary or visual devices such as rhyming, description, and interesting background visuals in the movies. --Carey Bryson, About.com

Wonderful Story
This story is about friendship, sharing, and the acceptance of others different from one's self. The animation is beautifully done. It follows the book very closely and the story is timeless. I would recommend this to Children 3 years up as it does have a scary part that could frighten younger children. But in today's world maybe not so much. Unfortunately.

Lovely
Room on the Broom was my son's favorite book from ~ 18 months to 22 months, yes we read this book nearly every night for four months! No other book has had this kind of appeal to him.Anyways! When I found out there was a movie, we had to get it. The adaptation is superb. They stick to the text of the book 100% - I think there is a Brittish english and American english version of this film. Excerpts from the Brittish version can be found on YouTube. The copy we purchased from Amazon was the American english version. The differences are subtle - for instance her hair is worn in a "plait" (Brit) or a "braid" (Amer)...The film is charming and they added so much character to each of the animals with expressions and body language. I was very impressed. The animation is beautiful and not spazzy/flashy like some children's shows. 30 minutes is a perfect amount of time for a young child's attention span too.Warning: My son found the dragon in the film to be much scarier than the dragon in the book. If you are watching this with toddlers or young children, it may be a little scary for them. I had to reassure my son the first few times, but now he loves the movie from beginning to end.

Like the book
After reading the book, this little movie is a fun follow up to bring it to life.Added idea, use clay to have your kids make the terrible mud monster that scared the dragon

Perfect!
This beautiful film is not easy to come by in the States, so I’m very happy to say that this copy works! Region coding is U.S. compatible and the movie itself (narration and all) is exactly the same as it was when it was available on Netflix—with the minor exception of a few of the more European terms being swapped out for more Americanized language. For example, “plait” has been exchanged for “braid”. I do wish that the original narrative were available, but it’s certainly not a deal-breaker! This has been one of our favorite films—and books!—for quite some time, and I’m so happy to own it for keeps.

Simply Adorable
Bought this for my 3 year old grandson. He absolutely loves it. Every Thursday we babysit and the first thing he asks for is "Room on the Broom". I'm sure we've watched it at least 8 times now and he shows no sign of tiring of it. It is good for any season - not really a Halloween thing. It is really adorable and my husband and I enjoy watching it too. It's clever, sweet and happy endings although there is one scary part - but apparently not too scary for a 3 year old - it involves a dragon and my little one always asks -" when does the dragon come?" as though he knows all will end well and he likes that part.

German Version has English
Ordered this not knowing it would come in German. Almost returned it but tried it out and it does have the English version you just need to switch to English before playing. Hope this helps other buyers as we were sad when this was removed from steaming services.

A family favorite
Another fantastic, whimsical, lovely little story from the writers/makers of The Gruffalo and Stick Man. Perfect for halloween, too, although it's not specifically a Halloween story, per say. So adorable, well-made and CLEVER. I find myself reciting along with the story. My toddler LOVES this little film more than almost anything else - I've even taken to reciting it to her in the tub to make hair-washing more endurable. And it doesn't hurt that it's narrated by the fantastic Simon Pegg. One of the best children's films out there - witty, clever, sweet and QUIET. And it has a lovely soundtrack, which I immediately purchased from iTunes. Our entire family are fans, and we will continue to buy any Julia Donaldson book they feel like turning into a film, no questions asked.

Prompt delivery and in great condition
The three year old and I were shocked to learn that on July 1st we were no longer able to stream or purchase an online version in the U.S. of our always favorite short movie. So, our only alternative was to find a DVD. It appears that only used copies are available. We were very relieved and happy to get this so quickly and in great condition. BTW, we love the book too and recommend both highly.
