Race Team (Disney/Pixar Cars) (Step into Reading) Review: Fun read - Great book. Fun to read Cars fans will love Review: Speed Your Way to Reading - My children can be particular about the books they are willing to read. One of my kids is a huge Cars fan, and selected Race Team as an early reader. The book has held their interest enough to keep them reading until all of the words were mastered. Race Team is a “Ready to Read” book and targeted to pre-K to Kindergarten readers. This book features “big type and easy words, rhyme and rhythm, [and] picture clues.” It also tells a familiar story with the themes you'd expect from Cars: friendship and teamwork. Lightning McQueen is heading to a race and all of his car friends will help him prepare and travel to the race with him. This particular book does not contain rhyming words, but the pictures do provide clues. There are a few challenging words in Race Team, like “excited” and “reporters,” that will leave your child with a great sense of accomplishment when she can read them. “Ka-chow!” The text in the book is large and easy to read. There are 8-10 words per page in this 32 page book. Race Team was illustrated by the Disney Storybook Artists and stays true to the characters and scenes in cars. Many of the illustrations will have a familiar feel to fans of the first Cars movie: Lightning surrounded by reporters, Doc wearing his headset, McQueen with his tongue sticking out. When you're learning to read, it's nice to have books you enjoy. Luckily my kids have a wide variety of interests, so I get to listen to Cars books in addition to Princess and Barbie books! This is a fine “learn to read” book for the Cars fan in your home.

Simple read for CARS fans
After discovering this story on Kinder Book Review, I knew my son would love it! And he did. Early reader who likes to sound out words that go along with his favorite movie.

great short stories for little 'cars' fans
i gave three of these 'cars' books to my son for christmas and he really enjoyed them. they have very little words, but very appropriate for my 2-1/2 year old. he's a big fan of the movie and the books were a great transition over for our nighttime readings.

This was the first book of the collection that I decided to buy, I bought it for my three year old nephew at Christmas and he really loved it, he is a total cars fan! We enjoyed reading the book and looking at the illustrations which look great. I'm sure it will help him with his reading. After reading other reviews I was worried that it could be too small, but upon receiving it felt it was just the right size, especially for his little hands.

Hi Cars Researcher! This book is part of the "Step into Reading" series. I totally and without reservation recommend it. There are many motivating (and easy) books - reviewer before me said sentence structure is awkward - this is because they are Early Readers. Great for those reluctant boys (and girls) who perhaps have been switched off from reading. Girls series has Barbie, Disney princesses, the works. This house thrives on them! The next release is out soon. Search "Step into Reading" - you will be pleasantly surprised.
