Wild Times at the Bed and Biscuit Paperback – September 27, 2011

My dog-obsessed mother loves these books! This was one of the few Scottish Terrier items she did not have, so it was only natural that I would buy this for her. I won't say too much about the book, because the real story behind my purchase relates to receiving the first-ever-damaged-in-transit item I have received from Amazon. I opened the box to find both this book and the other Bed and Biscuit book I had purchased smeared with ink. I am guessing that the packing slip may have still been wet when placed in the box, or may have gotten wet when being shipped. I contacted customer service right away, and Amazon staff promptly sent new copies of the books along with a prepaid return mailer to send back the damaged copies. I received the new copied in time for Mother's Day, and was extremely pleased with how smoothly the return was handled.

Our 8yr old daughter loves these books and has really enjoyed reading them easily. Lovely stories and helped her with her fluency and word recognition skills. Great for building the confidence she was needing with her reading speed, fluency and comprehension.

Sweet stories! We love the Bed & Biscuit books. Just wish there were more!!

A great children's book series.

We all know how important it is to read out loud to our children. The best thing about this author's books is that Joan Carris has managed to write stories that are as humorous for adults as they are for children. Her book makes reading out loud to our children a joy instead of a chore. We get just as caught up in the story as our children, we laugh out loud along with our children, and we have a true adventure as we read together. This book keeps a young reader's attention all the way through, from the first chapter to the last. The characters are warm and endearing, and we become their cheer leaders! I recommend Wild Times at the Bed and Biscuit both as a read out-loud, or for any child who has discovered the joy of reading.

Fans of Welcome to the Bed and Biscuit will love this sequel. The Bed and Biscuit becomes a temporary sanctuary for injured wild animals. Ernest, Milly and Gabby have to pitch in to help Gramps get all the new arrivals settled in. There's a cranky muskrat with a bad foot, a goose with an arrow injury and a pair of orphaned foxes. Unfortunately, Sir Walter the scotty puppy is starstruck by orphaned fox twins who fill his imagination with all the good things about being "wild." Ernest has his hooves full raising this head-strong puppy while still keeping things running smoothly for Gramps.
