What's great is all the patterns are super simple to draw ...
What a gem! I can imagine using this for reference making bouquets or adding interest with foliage and flowers to other pieces. What's great is all the patterns are super simple to draw yourself so it's not really necessary to trace each page like a book of patterns. I'd recommend this for any skill level. The DMC color numbers are extremely helpful especially for all the shades of green!

Almost there but not quite
This book did not quite meet my expectations. I was expecting a book with a bunch of floral elements and foliage I could combine to create fun embroidery designs like bouquets, wreaths, etc. But I am just unsure that I can combine the elements in this book well without doing a lot of enlarging and reducing of the elements on a copier. There is not any sense of scale in this book. All motifs are sized to essentially the same size to fit a certain space in the book. So a single blackberry and a pumpkin are almost the same size. A sprig of Rosemary almost the same size as a saguaro cactus. So unless you don’t care at all about scale, you will not be able to combine the motifs without doing a lot of sizing. Next - I didn’t expect I would like all 200 motifs, but i feel as though this book is missing the sort of useful motifs I was expecting and has other items that don’t feel like they belong in this book or are filler. For instance, I don’t know the names of the foliage which are used in real life floral bouquets - but these sorts of elements are largely missing. And when you do have foliage it is usually a single leaf. It is difficult to make much with a single leaf. Then, I was really surprised that this book is missing having all of the birth month flowers. I was hoping when I bought this book that it would have all the birth month flowers for me and my kids so I could combine to make a special embroidery. But this book does not have a carnation or snow drop for January, chrysanthemum is missing for November. December could be narcissus or Holly but these are missing as well. But yet there are 3 types of roses, and some other very uncommon plant varieties. Although I appreciate having access to uncommon flowers, not at the expense of useful flowers. Then - to further illustrate how difficult it will be to actually meaningfully use these patterns are the 10 projects at the end. For the projects at the end they have entirely new patterns to use instead of showing you how to use the other patterns in the book. This is a real missed opportunity. They could have had a project where you combine birth month flowers with a phrase like “growing together since …” or something like that. There could have been a project that showed you how to make a bouquet, or maybe some vase or pot templates etc. None of this is there. Instead theres a pattern for a Christmas wreath or flowers for embroidering a shirt collar. So even the publishers do not know how to use the motifs and had to make entirely new patterns to use. Finally all of the patterns are contained on the page with the embroidered example. Based on pictures I saw I knew this, but most embroidery books also provide the motifs on a blank page at the end of the book or provide a link to download and print the motifs to make them easier to transfer. With these being on the pages with the examples, there are lines pointing to each part of the motif indicating what stitch to use and how many strands so you have to ignore this when tracing. Just makes it more challenging to transfer. All in all I am sure there was a ton of effort put into this book, and it’s nearly there but not quite. I’m still unsure if I will be keeping …

Best Floral Embroidery Book! BEGINNER FRIENDLY
Worth it's weight in gold! This is by far the best embroidery book in my collection. Illustrations are incredibly detailed, easy step-by-step instructions, simple color guides, and simply beautiful florals all around. Having this book at hand makes embroidering florals a breeze; as opposed to having to search through thousands of online templates in my phone. Can't wait for a 2nd edition!

Poor quality of Illustrations
Poor quality of detail on illustrations. Exessive use of 6 strands of thread on most designs produce projects that don't look delicate as embroidery of flowers should look like. Category of seasonal flowers unnecessary. Since it is necessary to copy a pattern so you can transfer I tore pages apart and put in a binder. Will also throw away those I do not ever see me using.
