Disclaimer: I am not an experienced snorkeler nor a good swimmer so it's possible this is more me than the mask. I couldn't breath properly with this mask even in the pool. Much worse in the ocean. An experienced snorkeler who saw me struggling was quite adamant that the full face masks are simply recycling expelled air and indeed that made sense to me. On the positive side it is a very well made mask, no leakage, and as advertised the view is excellent. I would recommend you defer to the opinions of good swimmers and experienced snorkelers. I have used the traditional snorkel\mask in the past in the ocean and had much less trouble breathing. Please don't take this as a negative opinion of this particular full-face mask, but I am inclined to get a traditional mask next time after I learn how to swim properly
