Crapshoot
Not a bad price for a bulb...but you get what you pay for. Light went out within 5 days of putting it in the ballast. Luckily, Amazon customer service got me squared away and sent a replacement immediately upon contacting them. We'll see how the new one works, but so far, I'm unimpressed with the bulb (1/5 avocados -- it DID arrive quickly, so there's that) but I appreciate Amazon stepping in to fix the situation (5/5 avocados -- Amazon customer service is the guacamole AND salsa), so overall, 3/5 avocados...or stars if you have to be pissy about it.

WARNING! 3 OUT OF 3 WERE BAD!
I should have "listened" to the bad reviews. All 3 bulbs that I bought were defective. One lasted 1 day, one lasted 2 days and one lasted 4 whole days! Burnt out or didn't fire! JUNK!!! I would have given 0 stars but had to give 1 star to complete the review. Needless to say, I just ordered a different brand. KUDOS to Amazon, however, for making the return of these so easy . It is why I buy SO much from Amazon. They are #1 in customer service.

Ordered two so far. One was DOA -- probably mishandled en route.
The first bulb works fine so far. The second is DOA, probably because the box *inside* the padded envelope looked like this. (See attached photo)Company is probably fine, but might want to rethink their use of paper-thin Amazon "padded" mailers for $40 light bulbs.

Does the job
This bulb is producing very well for me. Buds are forming very well at the end of week 4. Recommended if you are on a budget.

it arrived on time, working
came in one piece and works as expected . being a delicate item you worry, but mine got here and is doing its job. just use normal precautions when you install it. (screw it in) best not to let your hands touch it ,oil can cause hot spots on the bulb and cause the bulb to possibly fail (possibly ill say again) just good practice with these type of bulbs. its only happened to me once and it was not this product ,just a high pressure light i was installing along time ago.i started wearing gloves and have never had it happen agin

It Works
The Protopia Metal Halide bulb was a trial to see how well it works compared to a few I have used in the past. I was looking for a 600 watt MH bulb with a concentration for vegetative growth. I have to admit, for the price, the performance was not too bad. I will purchase this one again.

Save your plans and do not switch from MH lamps to 315w CMH lamps.
I have no idea where people come up with the numbers for the CMH lamps, but my plants can tell me. Along the bottom portion of all my plants have turned yellow and leaves are falling off due to lack of light from this weak 315w CMH lamp. I switched from 400w MH to 315w CMH after 1 week finding that my branches have stretched so tall they have ruined the plants. The stems and branches have also gotten smaller and weaker as they have stretched so long. Using this CMH lamp made the plants act as if they were in shade and needed to stretch up to the light. If you do not want to ruin your plants then do not switch from MH to CMH lamps. CMH lamps do not come close to the efficiency of image lamps. The stems and branches of my plants have stretched four or five times greater a distance between internodal spacing just in one week's time of using 315w CMH lamp with a Growers Choice 315w CMH ballast. I am extremely disappointed what this CMH lamp has done to my plants, and would not recommend anyone switch from MH to CMH lamps. I have achieved much closer internodal spacing with MH lamps and even CFLs then this 315w CMH lamp! I have removed the CMH lamp permanently and I'm sticking with MH lamps for closer internodal spacing, thicker stronger branches, thicker darker leaves, and healthier plant all around.
