Q: Do these provide adequate protection against sea urchins?

I couldn't guarantee it, but they're very sturdy with a thick sole, so I would think so. My girlfriend had them (I had a different pair). We wore ours in the Cook islands and the locals seemed to think they offered protection from stone fish. Hope that helps.

I am an 8 and size 8 fitted perfectly. They do stretch a little.

That might be right as they are only in a plastic bag. They are quite light but comfortable, the soles are thick enough to provide good protection from rocks and sharp shells etc. I am happy with mine.
