I have been brought up with Fishermans Friend , originally it was a cough medicine. I am 79yrs of age and my grandfather was a fisherman in Fleetwood Lancs (where Fishermans Friend originated) we always had a bottle in the cupboard .Always took a bottle of Fishermans Friend to sea , cant turn a boat around for a cough/cold he would say . Now its the Lozengers .

I have used them for many years. As a chorister, many years ago, I found that they cleared my chest and throat and enabled me to make a more pleasant "noise". I was often asked, "Do you have any of those wee cough sweets with you, can I have one"? They all found the benefit but few of them would have spent a few pence to buy them as they aren't really the sweets one takes for pleasure.

I think everyone has had at some time in thier life a fisherman's friend like them hate them they certainally clear the throat n nose
