I love the cookbook

OK..............I admit that I have never been to Patsy's yet, BUT that doesn't disqualify me from knowing this cookbook. It's the best; why, do you ask? Well, I'd be delighted to compose for you.I am Italian......pure 100%, on both sides, and with enough background to talk about everything that means anything to our culture. I grew up in the 60's and 70's when Frank and Dean were THE only reason for watching TV. I know that it was a turbulent decade, full of discovery and change and restlessness. But some things felt OK and this book tells you about it.On Sundays, the whole extended family would gather at "Nonni's" house (grandparents). Because of the value and love of our food prepared in its purest form, it took about 14 calls between my mom, her sisters, and my Nonna, to figure out who was bringing what (and with 8 daughters, Illinois Bell made a huuuuuge profit from them). The food was simple and fresh and magic.This is "Patsy's Cookbook" whole purpose.The stories that accompany the book are a blast from the past. The pictures that accompany the stories and recipes are even better because if you close your eyes and think about it, you can picture yourself walking down the street, seeing the restaurant sign, and looking forward to opening the door and having all the scents and aromas hit you full force.All the "regulars" and the stars that have dined there get a good mention; the engagements that were proposed there; the celebrations that were created there. I'm looking forward to going to New York and Patsy's is on the top 10 list of restaurants to experience. There was nothing I disliked about this book. The celebrity stories did not take up a bunch of space like some other cranky reviewers said. It is filled with recipes you will actually use! Really. I am so glad I bought this book. It is well organized and has a good selection of recipes in every section of the book. I've been to Patsys. They have great food, and this book lets you enjoy some of it right at home.

I loved this cookbook! It’s more than I expected. While we were in New York a few years ago, we ate at Patsy’s because we had read that Frank Sinatra used to frequent the restaurant. I really enjoyed all of the stories about the celebrities that have frequented Patsy’s over the years. Great stories & great recipes!

Very good

I ordered this for my husband, After 1-year of being the only person to check it out from a local library, I would bring it back and then check it out. I figure that Patsy's had to be added to our collection of cook book's. Every Sunday my husband cook's a family dinner from Patsy's , Coming from a very traditional Italian family Sunday meals are very important. We found this to be one of the best Italian cook books out there. Highly recommend.

Good solid Southern Italian- American cookbook. The stories about the celebs (e.g Sinatra) and their food preferences that frequented Patsy’s years ago are very interesting and enjoyable. The receipts are good and reliable.

Live near this restaurant went in to eat, took the book and the Chef that wrote this came to my table to meet me, signed it, even gave me a bottle of their spaghetti sauce! Great evening, great book, awesome food and restaurant a famous institution here. Get to Patsy's in Manhattan you ever come to visit, it's on W. 56th Street and well worth it. It was Frank Sinatra's favorite restaurant in the city, they even took me upstairs and showed me where he used to "hold court".

Been looking for a copy for ages, they are tough to find in the UK. The anecdotes and personal submissions of well loved personalities make this an exceptional read. The recipes are fantastic!Fettucine Alfredo is my favorite and I look forward to cooking my way through all the recipes.

You can't help but love the stories of famous celebrities-and a ton of them have frequented this New York institution known for fabulous Italian food. Legendary Frank Sinatra brought hordes of his guests to what became 'his all time favorite restaurant. The love the family adorn their patrons sets this restaurant apart..and fabulous food of course...and for three generations. A great cookbook of Patsy's all-time fave dishes..including some of Frank Sinatra's faves. I was in touch with one of the family concerning shipping [Anne..Patsy's Grandaughter] me an item..and you just felt this love that they have..the same love that Frank and every patron feel--celebrity or not.....when they come to dine southern Italian cuisine in the Big Apple.

Es vermittelt auch eine Idee vom Lebensgefühl sowohl in New York als auch in Italien, gestern & heute.Patsy's Cookbook ist nicht nur eine Aneinanderreihung verschiedener italienischer Rezepte, es sind auch Erzählungen aus der Geschichte von Patsy's und Bilder aus einem New York vergangener Zeiten enthalten. Das macht das Ganze im Gegensatz zu einem reinen Kochbuch lesenswert. Es macht einfach Spaß, darin zu blättern, in den verschiedenen Geschichten zu schmökern...Und ganz nebenbei machen die Rezepte Lust, sofort den Herd anzuwerfen und loszukochen.....ich für meinen Teil bin begeistert...

Love the New York restaurant. Fun to get a look into their recipes and ideas.Not the easiest but great for special occasions!
