This book is wonderful and is a book that everyone should own. I fell in love with it and have enjoyed the recipes for Challah. There are so many good recipes and the book is infused with inspiring wisdom and insight for living life well. Many of the ideas about what it means to be a woman in today's world and a nurturer to others I find both refreshing and energizing. I highly recommend this cookbook to anyone who wants to enrich their Shabbat, family and life. Also, I am enjoying another book by this author, The Rising Life, and highly recommend it as well.This is the only book you need for all things Challah! My family loves all the recipes we have tried and each week they say they have a new favorite. The instructions for braiding all different types are clear and easy to follow. You will be glad you bought this book and it will be a favorite for families for years to come.

This is a visually delicious book.....full of artistic photos, instructional photos and diagrams, and amazing recipes, both for the challah (Sabbath bread) and the soul. The recipes are presented in an organized and easy-to-follow manner, and the interspersed "shmoozing" from the author, Rochie, really makes you feel as if you're baking along with her in her kitchen. I've led several dozen small scale challah baking events (I am honored to have worked with the author at one of hers) and have featured her first book," The Rising Live: Challah Baking, Elevated" as both an instructional and inspirational "must own" for any challah baker, from the beginner to the "Bubby." That book explains the "soul" of challah baking, and this one is the soul infused into the body of challah....yummy!! this one will certainly be featured at my next baking event. I've got her sourdough section marked and ready to go for this Shabbos! And now we must invite many more guests since I want to try ALL her recipes (but we can't afford to eat that much on our own!) Buy this for yourself, and for gifts, too....a bas mitzvah girl, a bride, a new neighbor, an old neighbor, even a daughter-in-law or mother-in-law ;0)

This book is so aesthetically pleasing. Something you cant help but notice.But it doesn’t stop there. It actually encompasses all. The spiritual component is priceless. The recipes and practical information is so valuable and downright amazing. Do yourself a favor. Get this book and completely transform your challah baking experience.

Lots of great recipes

Gorgeous photographs, detailed instructions, step-by-step photographs --- truly inspirational. I received it today and had to make challah. Love the instructions for various loaf sizes - qualities - triple, double, single. I made a double patch of the classic challah and made a braided cinnamon loaf and the cinnamon rolls. The rolls are to die for. Incredible texture and flavor. Bread will be sliced tomorrow. This book will guide the novice through all things challah. It was 10 pm at night when I was braiding the bread - so not so bad for someone who was exhausted. I am so glad I bought this book for my collection. As the Dir of Publicity for Eat Your Books, I review a load of books - this one I bought - and this one I used the day I received it! That says it all.

recipes are amazing but first part of book has very poor grammar (which i found distracting) and was very repetitive

This cookbook is not only a cookbook. It’s truley a work of art. You can see Rochie really put her whole heart and soul into this book. There is so much she’s teaches and shares about nurturing life which in turn is expressed by the intentions in baking challah. As well she’s has so many different types of challah, with different types of flours and sourdough. She also teaches you how to make it special by add many different fillings. And then teaches you how to shapes it in so many different and beautiful designs. The photography is so artistic and by each challah there’s a not of which page to turn to in order to learn how to braid it in that shape. She though of every detail from the cover to cover. There’s even a bookmark so you can save that special recipe or keep your place where you were reading. And then of course she’s teaches you the Halacha behind everything. Trial ya work of art and lifetime of learning. It’s really a beautiful book.

Five stars is not enough !!!!! Beautifully informative and well written illustrated book containing wonderful recipes and gorgeous pictures --definitely a keeper for my personal library forever-collection! Also a great coffee table conversation book! Excellent addition for lovers of the world of bread baking. Wish this treasure was available in hardcover edition as softcover did not do it justice and took away from the high quality of it's contents. Looking forward to a hardcover sequel. I definitely want more and more !!! Thanks Rochie !!!!!

Bought this book for the spouse, who has become the Challah Whisperer thanks to this excellent source for all things Challah. Contains many yummy recipes, lots of background and explanations regarding the steps and meanings for every stage of the baking experience. Photos are fantastic and the book is very well organized and put together. If you ever have to choose only one source concerning Challah, this is the one.
