Great product difficult buy locally

Used these a couple of months ago to prepare a dozen jars of pickled onions with. Probably as good as any I’ve bought before, and certainly good value when I bought them. I’ve sealed the unused spices in a jar for next time, as I used only a third of the pack.They’ve given a nice flavour to the picking vinegar, but I must admit to adding a dried chilli or two to a few jars to make them hotter.

I have decided to start making chutneys again. This spice is gorgeous. But it is very strong. I put about a tablespoon in a little muslin bag and put it in the chutney mixture whilst cooking-obviously taking it out later. But i think a teaspoon would have done. Anyway, i made delicious 'spicy apple chutney', that didn't end up too strong after all.

The picture of the product and the pickling spice delivered were different. The absence of any larger pieces of chilli suggest that spice will be not as expected. Perhaps the very good price may indicate that more expensive spices may be in small amounts.

Used for pickled eggs, onions and piccalilli. Excellent and tasty

Simply great on product and delivery, no supermarket near me stocked it.Online from Sainsbury's is more expensive .
