Helps with ants, but the paint comes off.
I bought this bowl because my outside cat's bowl was always full of ants within about an hour of me putting it out. This bowl has helped, but not completely stopped them. I find a few in the bowl when I take it in (he eats canned food, so it's never out long) and a swarm of them on the underneath side.I've had the bowl about a week and am very unhappy with the paint. I've hand washed it, but within the first day, I started seeing white spots in the paint. Then, those spots chipped off. The bowl is now about 10 days old and a ton of paint is gone. Every time I wash it, quite a bit more comes off. At this rate, it will just be a metal bowl in a month.

High Hopes Dashed!
After reading the other reviews I had high hopes for these bowls. Unfortunately they didn't stop the ants in my case. I've been plagued with those tiny black ants invading my cat's bowl in my sun room. Those acrobatic little ants didn't have any trouble climbing up and over the bowl to get to the food. It's back to putting the cat's bowl into a larger bowl filled with water for now.
