Love
This is one of those products you didn’t know you needed until you got it. I’m new to the sourdough world but using my knife block bread knife, my slices were inconsistent and not the bests for sandwich making. This helps to make even slices and I’m not scared I’m going to slice my finger with it. Love it.

Very nice, depending on how you intend to use it.
As far as appearance, this knocks it out of the park. It just looks mean and ready to take on anything. The serrated blade is quite imposing and it cuts well.On the less positive side, if you use a bread guide to slice up your homemade loaves so you have some consistency in getting thinner slices, this will not work for you without major adaptations such as moving your loaf up in the slicing guide for each and every slice since the only slice it will work for is the first one. So, if you use the guide you will still be better off with a cheap-o serrated bread knife so you can get the whole load in one go. I found it somewhat difficult to get clean slices on pastries and bread when using it freehanded, but I'm a bit of a klutz.I don't care. It still looks utterly awesome hanging from my pot rack and I'm sure I'll use it enough on bagels and such for it to pay it's way. So, go ahead and buy it. Just don't expect to uniformly slice up your bread with it!

Great functionality and aesthetics
Recently moved out, and needed a bread knife for daily use. This one caught my eye as it seemed to have a long enough blade, and I liked the wood-handle look.I was pleased to find the blade covered in a protector while unpackaging, and the aesthetics of the knife are very pleasing to the eye, meaning I don't have to hide it in a drawer like most of my other kitchen tools and appliances. The blade itself appears to be made of a pretty cheap metal, but it cuts bread well enough, and the design of the knife means you can cut consistently sized slices, which is something I've always had trouble doing.Overall, I'd say this knife is a solid purchase. It might not be up to par for professional use, but for home use, it is more than enough, and certainly gets more attention that most regular old bread knives.

Does what it's supposed to
We were going to use this as a bread slicer (shocking, I know), but its actually being used as cake cutter. I wouldn't have thought the serrated blade would work well for that purpose, but it does. Sure, having a bread/cake specific slicer may be overkill for some, but my problem with bread knives is how often we cut ourselves on them. The shape of this style slicer makes it less likely for you to A) stick it with other knives and then not realize what you're reaching for, and B) touch the blade inadvertently. Its also nice enough to hang up if thats your jam.

Could be better
The idea is great in theory - make a knife that doesn't let you cut slices that are too wonky, or uneven. The knife guides you as you cut so that the slice is even.In practice? I've run into cuts that I couldn't make because it wouldn't fit in the gap between the blade and the guard (too long). I've had some issues with bread tearing rather than cutting.Using it takes some getting used to, and it will work for now. But this isn't something I'm going to stick with, I don't think. Eventually this will be replaced.

Actually 4.5 stars
The bread knife feels comfortable in my hand, the blade is very sharp and it cuts the bread well. The only reason I'm not giving it a full 5 stars is I'm left-handed. When the blade is attached as delivered, the serrated edge lines up with the wood and there are no gaps. I flipped the blade for a left-handed cutter and as you can see in the photo the serrated edge doesn't line up and leaves a gap. This makes it so that it won't cut the bread all the way through to the cutting board. My husband will redrill pilot holes so that the serrated edge will line up. If the blade was a little wider it wouldn't be an issue. So, for a right-hander it's fine as is. Some unassembly, redrilling, and reassembly required for a left-hander like me.

Bread Slicer for Homemade Bread, Serrated Edge
This bread slicer is really nice, and the serrated edge is sharp enough - quite sharp really. This is a bit interesting to use, and takes some getting used to, as it feels kind of 'sideways' when you use it. But this makes a great gift for the breadmaker in your life, as it comes in a nice little box - nothing fancy, but the knife itself is pretty fancy. It has a little leather cord on the end too, for hanging it up in the kitchen.I really like this, and it gives nice, uniform although pretty thick bread slices. The trick to cutting the bread while still hot is just to not press so hard, and let the knife do its job (again, it's just super sharp).

Great bread slicer
The Indirewash bread slicer has been fantastic for my homemade sourdough! The blade is super sharp and slices through my bread effortlessly, giving clean, even cuts every time. I appreciate the protective cover, it keeps the blade safely stored and is great for maintaining sharpness. The knife is lightweight, making it comfortable to use, and the dark brown wood handle is not only beautiful but also feels high-quality. I highly recommend it to any home baker!
