Great house chef tool
I was obsessing about having a japanese knife but there were so many options I was overwhelmed. I chose this one since is a reputable brand and it looks pretty and imagined it would be a good starter.Have been using it for a while and so far no complains about it.It feels solid, the handle is great. In terms of shape is really good, since is really thin you can slide through potatoes and carrots nicely. It is hard so it retains the edge perfectly, and keeps sharp. In general, great knife, looks pretty, feels nice and solid and is sharp.

Sharp out of the box. Very sharp!
Extremely sharp out of the box, sharper than any i’ve purchased and used (that being said, i have cut myself multiple times just being slightly careless). after almost 2 months of near daily use (carrots, onions, celery, cucumber, broccoli for small meal prepa and stir fry) the edge is still as sharp as ever, not even needing any honing on a steel. i particularly like the V shaped handle (as opposed to the round and D shaped handle of other brands) , and it’s remarkably durable, as i store it exposed on a magnetic holder over my sink, so it has a great deal of rust and stain resistance. i’d recommend this 10/10

GREAT
It’s worth paying a bit expensive knife like this. It cuts effortlessly. It even adds more joy to cook. I should have bought this earlier!!!!

I am satisfied with the hardness of its Blade.
Due to the hardness of the blades, it took me quite a few additional minutes to have it sharpen at 15,000 grits of whetstone before it become a razor sharp blade. The sharpness stays longer than the other collection of kitchen knife I already have.

Best chef's knife for slicing
I spent 2 years in Japan and bought one of these off "Amazon Japan" (we call it Jam-a-zon"). For slicing and cutting, you can't beat Japanese steel. This one being stainless is less maintenance than a true carbon one, but you still want to wipe it off after each use. Just don't go hacking through chicken wings and rib bones, that is what western knives are for. Loved it so much, for the holidays I bought ones for my siblings. When the mover's lost ours, I replaced it with the same model.
