Is it a game? Is it thinly disguised porn? Is it drivel?
This game is funny for about two minutes and then it becomes just plain repetitive and boring. If you're a young teenage boy, you'll get plenty of pleasure from seeing the half naked ladies but this game is for adults (18+) so I guess it must be aimed at letchy old men that want to drool over bouncing boobies and the like.If you want to play a game, buy anything for a fiver from the bargain bucket at Amazon, you're bound to get something better than this.If you want porn, go visit an internet site - there are plenty out there that will let you view stuff for free. So, to go back to the questions in the title of this review: the answers are, No, Yes and Yes.Don't waste your money on this purile rubbish.

Basic gameplay but GREAT FUN
Yes there isn't a lot to the game just a selection of mini games and variations on them. But I just found myself drawn into this world the characters while not totaly realistic are plenty of fun, if you're looking for a serious gaming experience maybe this isn't for you, myself I just enjoyed the ride and will go back to play it again and again.

Modern Version fails to match the Old Master
Okay first things first. This is actually a nice looking game there's been some care and effort put into the graphics the game looks nice the campus and streets are an intresting enough environment to roam around and the voice actings pretty nice. The humour is purile and toilet based (it's a Larry game if you're after Wildean bon motes this is the wrong place to look (though that said check out the Science Lab) but appropriate for the game.Okay so what about the plot? Erm well it's small and functional. To qualify for a dating game show you have to complete a series of elimination games all well and good. To qualify for the elimination games you have to get tokens of affection from young ladies around the campus and streets. This is where the problem lies. There's a limited number of games to play and they get repeated from girl to girl increasing in speed and length. Which gets 1) dull and 2) bloody difficult. There's a whole bunch of side quests and odd things and there's some fun moments (watch out for the encounter with the video machine) you can buy ruder loading screens, nude poser models, and naughty and nude modes for the characters (nb there's 2 versions of the game Adult rated and Mature in Mature floating censored signs pop up in various key areas)It's a new direction for Larry which is good it's a fun game but needs better or at least more varied mini games and a stronger main plot (always a feature in the original Larrys).

A Little Different From The Original
I can remember playing the original Leisure Suit Larry fifteen years ago, when you had to prove you were an adult to play it by answering a number of questions about American history. Leisure Suit Larry - Magna Cum Laude is still aimed at an adult audience, however you require teenage lightening fast reactions to play it! Instead of the kind of game where you have to figure out what to do next, you have to complete lots of little skill games to get anywhere. Fortunately you have the option to "Wimp out" from some of these games but not all of them. If you like these little fast reaction skill games, and you don't mind the adult material then this is for you. However if you are someone who gets frustrated when you have played the same skill game so many times without winning, then I wouldn't recommend it!

Very very disappointed
The title of the review says it all. If you are about 8 years old and enjoy a glorified and expensive version of Parappa the Rapper then buy it. If you don't..... then don't buy this game. All this game seems to be is level after level of hitting buttons in a sequence. If you loved the old Larry games and are expecting this to be the same then you WILL be disappointed, bring back the point and click adventure games!!!

Moderately Amusing; But Somewhat Repetitive
Sadly, the dramatic graphical improvements over the previous 'Larry' games is countered by a significant reduction in playability. Most of the sub-quests come down to one of five or six of the same mini-games, over and over again. The scenes and situations that little Larry Lovage finds himself in are amusing, and after a while you'll find yourself playing the games just to see more of the plot unfold. If you like playing the same old "bash the buttons in the correct order" mini-games again and again, this'll suit you. But if you'd rather just see the plot tick by you're better spending your money on seeing a movie.

5 stars..With a big BUT at the end
I'll be honest, I've never wanted to get my hands on a game so bad in my life! But after reading all the revews i was doughtfull. If you can forgive its brain-dead gameplay and occasionally frustrating design, Magna Cum Laude is a hysterically entertaining romp through a world of wacky sexual hijinksTimes sure have changed since the last time a Leisure Suit Larry game hit store shelves. Once the name in sexually charged adventure gaming, the Leisure Suit Larry series has been altogether dormant since the '90 Now, more than half a decade after the last Leisure Suit Larry, VU Games and developer High Voltage have brought out Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude, a total reenvisioning of the franchise both from a gameplay and content perspective. Gone are the innuendo- and entendre-based gags of old, replaced by blatant, obscene, and downright insane humor that rivals most modern-day Hollywood comedies in terms of sheer hilarity and pure shock value.Unfortunately, also gone are the appreciable adventure gameplay stylings of old, replaced by myriad shallow minigames that aren't particularly fun.The primary minigame you'll find yourself faced with in Magna Cum Laude is the conversation minigame. How do you turn a conversation with a woman into a game? Why, by putting a window at the bottom of the screen and letting you navigate a smiley-faced sperm through a wacky obstacle course, of course!Sounds deranged, doesn't it? It's actually not all that bad. Basically, the way in which you steer Larry's conversational course of lies and exaggerations is by controlling this happy little sperm. You will frequently come upon sections in the little obstacle course with three icons, one of which you will have no choice but to pass through. These represent things Larry will say next during his conversation. By passing through the green icon, Larry will say the best thing possible. By passing through a red icon, Larry will say something wholly unappealing, and thus he will begin to lose the girl's interest. There are also other, context-sensitive icons that will appear from time to time, some good and some bad. Also, you'll frequently have to navigate around a whole host of other random, though dodgeable icons, like ones that will make you belch, and others that progressively make Larry drunker (and thus make the sperm icon harder to move properly). This is certainly an inventive way to turn a conversation into a game, though it can be a little distracting at times, especially when you're trying to pay attention to the dialogue. Unfortunately, this is about the only inventive or interesting minigame that Magna Cum Laude throws at youHowever, if you can find a way to look past the abhorrent console loading times and generally banal gameplay, Magna Cum Laude is most certainly an entertaining experience, thanks largely to its irreverent sense of humor. When it comes right down to it, Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude is not a recommendable "game," per se, so much as it is a recommendable experience. The game portions found here are largely insignificant and are actually pretty uninteresting as a whole, but the comedically brilliant story, characters, and dialogue, as well as the clever and profane tone of it all, really do make this a game worth playing through for anybody who enjoys a particularly adult brand of humor. Of course, if you had any serious affection for the old Leisure Suit Larry games, it's quite possible that you'll be offended by how little this game resembles its predecessors, both in humor and in gameplay. But, if you can put the past aside and simply let this game do its thing, it'll likely provide you with more than enough laughs. So I give it 5 stars for the game that it is. NOT for it been part of LSL. As it really should have ben its own game

Not at all like Leisure Larry and not much fun as a game either!
I bought this game thinking that even if it wasn't like Leisure Suit Larry it would be a fun game - it wasn't. It's basically a playboy magazine with some comedy and lots of mini-games involved, if you wanted too you could skip all of the mini-games by finding tokens and just watch the cut scenes although you would miss part of the little storylines in the mini-games - I guess that's why there is complete and entire scripts of the games cut-scenes and minigames online for free.Don't spend your money unless you really, really, really, really like mini-games.

Fun, but not really uncut
While this game is a lot of fun, I am still trying to figure out what parts are no longer censored. I expected an uncut game to be, well...more revealing. Even so, some of the minigames get old after awhile, and I've only made it to about 80% done before I gave up. Not as much fun as LSL7 (my favorite) but still silly and good for some laughs.

NOT FOR KIDS, but surprisingly FUN for Adults!!!
This game is so hilarious yet entertaining. I have been stuck playing this game for a week now and still having so much fun with all the missions and side stories. This game is DEFINITELY not for kids but Larry's ignorance and ego make him so funny and loveable, especially when he's trying to get his 'mac' on with girls.
