Taste terrible yucky!

So, I mixed up my matcha mochi according to the directions. I opted to mix everything rather than saving some of the powder as a topping. It came out... pretty much as slime. My hope was not high. I've had mochi before, though not matcha flavor, so I know the texture it's supposed to have - a little sticky, solid-ish (softer than a gummy bear, more like Turkish delight), and quite chewy. This was not that. I'm not sure if saving part of the matcha powder for the outside would make it solid enough to cut into squares, but I doubt it. I was able to separate it into parts by wiggling a spoon through it, but it's never going to look like the cute little squares on the package. All that said - the taste is actually quite good. It's a nice mix of smooth (not bitter) matcha flavor with a subtle sweetness that doesn't go overboard. The texture is off, but it's very much like it would be if you'd chewed mochi for a little while. If you can get over it not looking so pretty - or if you've got a matcha-loving kid who doesn't mind eating "gross" looking things! - this could be a fun little treat to make together.

This was super easy to prepare, but because it's a blob, it's impossible to cut them into squares like the listing picture. It's sweet enough for me, but the texture is very soft. Not like the mochi I'm used to which is more chewy, this one is super soft and a little chewy, not firm enough I think. It's an ok treat, but not worth the high price.

A different snack that we had just for fun. Not sure we would eat this all the time, but it was nice to serve with green tea. Didn't leave a lot of extra leftovers, nice to try. (Sorry, I still like peach cobbler better but this tastes good with green tea.)

This product was so very small for the price I paid. I barely made enough to share with another person. It also did not settle well in its shape or texture. It just looks like a deflated jelly blob.

I got a pack of these Japanese sweets because I was curious about trying something new. I opened it up and was hit with a nice, sweet smell. They look kind of cute too. I tried some right away, and the flavor of the soybean flour is really nice. It’s sweet but not too sweet, which I liked. The mochi was chewy, which is what I expected, but I found it a bit stickier than I thought it would be. When I was eating it, it kind of stuck to my fingers, which was annoying. It might be a little messy if you're not careful. It’s definitely a fun snack and something different to enjoy with tea or coffee, just be ready for a bit of a clean-up after. Pros: - Nice flavor, not overly sweet - Chewy texture, fun to eat - Good for sharing with friends Cons: - Sticky texture can be messy - Only comes in one pack, so it runs out fast.

This MINOYA WARABIMOCHI mochi kit is very easy to prepare. After trying several of these mochi candies, I was excited to try this out for myself. That said, I don't know how they get theirs to come out in square shapes.
