I am so grateful for the makers of this toothpaste. Their ingredients are top quality, and for those who have done a lot of detox work to the point where you get to know the flora of your mouth (and its effect on your overall health), you'll really be able to tell a difference with this toothpaste. My mouth flora has never been healthier. It does make a mess, but I keep a cleaning brush by my bathroom sink and just swish it around to clean up after use and that works fine. The mess is so worth it. Also, stirring before use is advisable, otherwise it is like natural peanut butter, the thick stuff clumps at the bottom. Thank you, Nelson Naturals, for a fantastic product! I've lately been trying to find natural and ethically packaged replacements for common products in my home. I've been pretty successful so far in finding something comparable, but this just isn't it for toothpaste. The taste is incredibly salty and the charcoal is black like ink. It's very drippy and gets everywhere. I don't feel like my breath is fresh after using it. I'll finish the tub so as not to be wasteful, but I won't be ordering this again. I'm wondering if maybe the classic peppermint would be better, but it was sold out.I hate to give ethical, eco-friendly products a negative review, but if you're looking for something similar to traditional toothpaste as a replacement, this isn't the product for you. If you can get used to the cons, then the glass jar and natural ingredients are absolutely worth it.UPDATE: So. It took some getting used to. This was my first swap. I have since used toothpaste tabs, and ran out before my next order was delivered. So, I went back to this jar for a few days, and it is much better now. I moved my rating up to 4 stars, because my teeth feel clean, and this brand is more freshening and minty than others. I definitely will buy Nelson's again, but try for peppermint next time, as the charcoal is a bit messy.

I was trying to go zero waste, but really don't have time to find out what kind of handmade toothpaste I would like or even to make one. This product not only is zero waste, but also serves as a nice intermediate phase for me before I use baking soda to brush my teeth. It has a gentle mint taste, and makes my teeth feel clean. The sink gets kind of messy due to all the black splash, but it doesn't bother me too much. I just get it a quick wipe afterwards. Strongly recommend this product!

I love the idea of this toothpaste. The execution leaves much to be desired. It's very messy to use which is ok but takes some getting used to. I don't love the taste which I also got used to. My teeth never really felt clean using it. Also, I found that it needed to be thoroughly mixed (for several minutes) prior to each use. Since I didn't mix well enough, I now have a rock hard chunk at the bottom that can't be used easily. I'm blending it with another toothpaste bc I don't want to be wasteful but will not buy this one again.

Keeps your teeth clean for longer than any other toothpaste it’s great

I am so disappointed! This is not zero waste! It has a plastic wrapping on it. I was really excited about it too.

Love this product and have purchased it for years now. Was very disappointed this time to discover the size is 15 ml smaller than my previous purchases. I feel this is misleading to the public and I would prefer to have the same size and pay more.

I can't live without this toothpaste for so many reasons. It helps with staining if you're a coffee drinker, whitens (not like dentist grade whitening, but helps) and if you're prone to gum infections or your tongue seems to be always white or dark from coffee or smoking, it helps for that too, so you're not using harsh, chemical filled items from the store. Lasts a long time too.

Messy even when you use just a little bit. The contents inside the container dry out easily. While it does whiten your teeth, it's just not worth it.

Messy & I didn’t notice any difference in the whitening. I love the other flavours just wouldn’t buy this one again. Too watery.
