Primer for Poets Paperback – February 13, 2018

I am still reading the book, but it just gets better as it gets along. I am a published poet who has been writing for over 4 decades, and I've read many books on poetry during that time, but this book approaches things in ways I have not seen before. I especially appreciate the chapter on "Letting in the Disorder." I highly recommend this book, particularly to aspiring poets.

Excellent book for any would-be poet and every is poet. Chapter 9, Singing, nearly alone warrants the cost of this book. The author's description of the more complex music possible in poems is something I've believed myself, and practice, but have never in a book for poets, and rarely heard in classrooms.

My rating is based on a third-party opinion, the person to whom I gifted the book, who uses it very often, and who told me that this is a good and useful book.

Gregory Orr is someone who believes poetry can save your life. And he wants to tell you how. This is about poetry as a method of healing and bringing order.

Professor Orr writes with sensitivity and long experience teaching and reading poetry. I see him as a significant mentor. So glad I found him and his book.

Absolutely superb book. I would love to see it in the hands of every poet I know, no matter their experience level.

Such an interesting and informative book. Concepts are clear, well written! Is really increasing my understanding and pleasure when reading poetry.

I am a fan of Orr's poetry, and this primer does not disappoint.
