DBT Therapeutic Activity Ideas for Working with Teens

Great resource, I use this a lot in my private practice.
Great resource for my private practice! I’ve used this with teen clients and young adults. Yes some of the graphics may be a bit “young” for older clients and actually a bit more so for my teen male clients, but in my experience simply mentioning that beforehand, makes everyone is ok with it. The message for the DBT strategies is simplified in a nice way which gives room for my own more in-depth explanations when needed for older clients. I have made copies of the forms (since the online link doesn’t work for me) and have created a binder with pages from this book and another DBT book I have. Wonderful resource.

Creative and well-written! Can use immediately upon purchase!
This is an amazing book! It is practical, hands on and easy to use. Each DBT module has its own section with worksheets and handouts. There are clear, concise directions for every activity and the trainer will be able to print a handout and teach without a lot of advance preparation. The worksheets are attractive and not complicated so the learner will be able to review and integrate the information between sessions. As a life coach for foster and adoptive families, I believe the information in this book will greatly benefit both parents and children. I am excited about this addition to my toolbox of activities and I know you will be too!

Good DBT book
I like the book but wish it were spiral bound or had a pdf version to make copies easier when using with a group.

Well written and fun, skill based book designed to change difficult behavior and learn lifelong coping skills
Had the opportunity to read DBT Therapeutic Activity Ideas for Working with Teens, and this is one of the most informative and useful workbooks I have ever read. The author goes to great length to demonstrate skills to improve your teens life, including worksheets with examples! This is such a comprehensive skill based book, I'm sure I will use it with all of my clients. Well written and fun, while working on changing difficult behavior and learning coping skills- I'm so appreciative to have this book and will be buying extra copies to give to clients. Love the, "Turn the Mind" worksheet, see photo included in review.

Great tool for teens, parents and clinicians
After reviewing many DBT workbooks, I discovered this wonderfully well written and illustrated workbook. This workbook has been one of the most useful books in my therapy room for kids in middle school, high school and young adults going into college. The handouts are easy to use and parents have responded well to using them at home with their children. The skills are nicely laid out and easy to understand. Many of my clients and parents have commented how helpful this book has been for their child. I would highly recommend this workbook to any clinician working with the adolescent population.

I run Adolescent DBT groups and this book offers great alternative handouts
Great book! Keeps the DBT concepts fresh and not as 'child-like' as the dinosaur handouts from the adolescent group manual. I have found these to come in handy and highly recommend.
