May all be safe
What should have been an ordinary funeral turns into the scene of the young woman dead in the burial grave. Detective Lieutenant Lottie Parker and Detective Sargent Boyd are called to investigate the Regmllin cemetery, a young woman Elizabeth Bryne is missing could this be her? When Lottie’s boss announces that he has to have surgery and the temporary boss isn’t compatible with Lottie, you know the story will get interesting. While Book 3 dragged and you needed a score card to keep track of everyone, this book keeps you turning the pages, holding your breath that the missing sister of Boyd and another young lady will be found before something bad happens. Spoiler alert, you will like the interaction between Boyd and Lottie.

Compelling Thriller With Shocking Twists
It all starts with a victim fleeing from an assailant- naked, cold, in the dark of night, then the woman falls into a freshly dug grave, is buried and left for dead. A funeral is abruptly interrupted when her body is discovered at the bottom of the grave. Another young woman is being stalked on a commuter train to Dublin by a mysterious passenger. Detectives Lottie Parker and Boyd are called in to investigate. To make matters more complex, Detective Parker must put up with an interim superintendent McMahon, whom she had a bad past experience with. The book grabs you from the first page and is hard to put down. Once again, Patricia Gibney's attention to settings and details is impeccable. But that "shocking twist?" The reader won't see that coming! Recommended.

Back On Track
I adore Lottie Parker. In the last book I grew impatient with her and it took some enjoyment out of reading it. But with this book she is back in fine form. I can forgive Lottie her faults, we all have them. I just don't want her to lose everything because of them. Her life is always going to be complicated. But she is a great detective and that is also always going to be true. Now if she could apply that intuition to her love life, she would find some real happiness. If I could tell her anything it would be to let Boyd in because he loves her and, admit it or not, she loves him.

Another Good Read
The Detective Lottie Parker Series combines a crime her team is tackling with some of the challenges in the personal lives of both police detectives and crime victims. It makes for an interesting read, although sometimes I wonder at how inept Lottie can be in her personal life. I suppose I should cut her some slack as she has little spare time to sort out her feelings as she juggles the demands of her job with the needs of her family. Like many working women, Lottie has little time for herself.I do enjoy these books and No Safe Place is no exception.

Loved it
I have followed this series from the beginning and just love the dialogue between Lottie and Boyd. It just seems to flow so naturally. I really enjoyed this book which is a fast-paced procedural with lots of surprises. I rarely do a 5 star but I think this one was stellar. I couldn't find anything truly wrong with it. I'm beginning to love the English crime novels. Definately some foul language if you want to avoid that.

EXCELLENT READ!!! (10-Star Read)
This is a book that will keep your nose in for as long as your eyes will keep you reading. Believe it! A gripping thriller with a shocking twist. Lottie and Boyd are at it again when they continue to chase down leads to find answers to a murder then add in another murder that occurred ten years before. Author "Patrcia Gibney" has truly outdone herself - thank you for the rollercoaster ride.

Lottie Parker book 4
I am totally entertained by the Lottie Parker series and think they do need to be read in order to get the background and ongoing main character interactions. Lottie is definitely a flawed and sometimes aggravating protagonist, but the story line kept me glued to the book to see who was abducting the women from the train and why. I don't always read every word in some books due to writing being less than my style, but Gibney's style is very readable and her plots are very engrossing. Now I have to wait for hopefully book 5!

Great Series!
I have really enjoyed reading this series. The author does an excellent job writing a good mystery that holds my interest from start to finish. I have to admit that I wasn't a big fan of Lottie Parker when I read the first book in this series, but I seem to handle her a lot better now. I can't wait to see what Lottie and Boyd are up to in Book 5!

Good read
I've read the earlier three books in the series and enjoyed them although I still can't figure out if I like Lottie, nor why others are so loyal to her. She's a very flawed character and I hope that with each book she'll address her demons. Without ruining this story for others I'll say that I guess, to some extent, she does start to move on. However I'm still waiting for that big breakthrough where Gibney shatters the shell and let's us in to view the better Lottie buried inside the huge mess she has become. I would like the next book to focus on and develop the characters, both in Lottie's family and her team. The plot was interesting but there seemed something unexplained at the end of it all, as though Gibney had tired of the investigation and just wanted to wrap it up quickly. Having said that the book kept up a good pace and it was a good read.

Prejudice and lies lead to murder
Ahhhh. Lottie Parker. Quite possibly one of the very definitions of dysfunctional. She has a terribly complicated family life, a mother who drives her insane, children who have all been through the mill in one way or another and deals with the grief for the loss of her husband by a daily dose of Xanax and alcohol. When it comes to the personal she is as disorganised as they come and yet she is a keen Detective and very capable, often pulling a result from the very ashes of the fires she has invariably set burning. This time, it would appear that has been taken quite literally. There is just something about her that I love and I love the way in which author Patricia Gibney has continued to develop her character and back story throughout each book, finding new and inventive ways to turn that screw just one more millimeter each time. With No Safe Place this is especially true. Still trying to fully recover from events in the previous book, The Lost Child, Lottie has her mother to contend with, a daughter who is intent on visiting her child's grandfather in New York and her are they or aren't they relationship with Boyd as well as they worrying news that an old work colleague and rival, David McMahon is taking over from Superintendent Corrigan and looks set to make Lottie's life hell. Another typical day in the office then. The central story focuses around a young girl who has been reported missing by her mother. Although the mandatory time hs not yet past, there is something about the case which has Lottie on edge and she begins to look into it anyway. When Corrigan informs her that the case bears a startling resemblance to an old case he worked ten years before which was never solved, and when another young woman, one of the Traveller community reports hearing screaming in a nearby cemetary, Lottie is more convinced than ever that something is a foot. When another girl subsequently goes missing and the case turns very personal for one of the team, Lottie has a battle on her hands trying to find out what links them all before it is too late. With this book, the author has done a great job of reflecting upon the prejudices which exist within society, in particular those which are linked to the Traveller community. They are naturally suspicious of the Police and the Police are almost programmed to imagine the worst of them. It is a delicate balance and one that Lottie finds hard to manage, even though she is beautifully open minded about the people she is dealing with. It also touches upon subjects such as domestic violence and rape, albeit in a very minor way and barely on the page, more referenced than present in the moment as it were. None of it is gratuitous and all lends itself to the plot. With the story told in third person, it allows us moments where we follow not only Lottie and the investigation, but also the perpetrator and in those moments we get a chilling glimpse of how calculating they are but not necessarily what has driven them to do what they do. And although we deduce the bad guy is just that, a guy, there are no end of suspects that it could be and you will be kept guessing and second guessing yourself from the start to the finish. Now there are some very sad moments in the story but again not dealt with in a glorified or nasty way, but it does still make you reflect at times. But there are also moments where Patricia Gibney has created such tension that you will be poised on the edge of your seat, waiting to see what will happen and how Lottie will come good, if indeed she does ...This is a brilliantly written tale of jealousy, prejudice, misunderstanding and even perhaps rage and a brilliant addition to the series. Oh and the ending. Made me smile. I can only imagine what that is going to lead to for our poor heroine. As if life wasn't complicated enough already!

Great
This is the 4th instalment in the Lottie Parker series and what a cracking read it is. I have read all the books in the series and they just get better and better. The story continues with Lottie Parker and her team investigating the disappearance of Elizabeth Byrne that got off a train from Dublin and an incident where Traveller Bridie McWard reports that she hears a woman screaming from the cemetery next door. Other people thinks she is hearing things but, Lottie is the only one taking her report seriously. They discover as a funeral is just about to take place, a body is found in a freshly dug grave. The story also builds on the relationships between her team especially Boyd, who is always at her side and also the relationship between her mother and her 3 kids, Chloe, Katie and Sean.Patricia Gibney has done it again. This is another excellent instalment in the series, which I loved every minute of. The is a captivating page turner that I did not want to put down. I loved how we learnt more about Lottie. Although she got the job done, she was whiter than white cop. She had her flaws. It made her more human and especially when things are stacked up against her. This is grittier then her previous novels but I thought that made it more interesting.Thank you Bookoutre and Netgalley for a copy of this book.

Brilliant- loved it
So happy to have Lottie Parker,a favourite Detective of mine, back in action with her side kick and " partner in crime" BoydLottie is already investigating the case of a missing young woman Elizabeth Bryne when at a local cemetery just as the coffin is about to be lowered into the grave a scream rings out and lying in the bottom of the open grave is the body of a female. Could it be the missing girl? Lottie is sent to investigate.Love that we get to see all sides of Lottie and get more insight into her hectic and complicated home life as a mother and grandmother, the dynamics and interactions with her team and her personal and working relationship with Boyd.No Safe Place is a brilliantly constructed storyline and plot with a wealth of fascinating characters. Full of twists and turns It keeps you guessing to the very end.Absolutely loved it- 5stars all the way and a highly recommended read!!!!!

An Irish police procedural with a pleasing protagonist
Another strong plot driven police procedural. 4th in this series and the author here repeats her formula for this series set in Ragmullin in the Midlands of Ireland.Patricia Gibney is a fine and original writer who puts her main protagonist, Lottie Parker through the mill. There are pressures from both home and work while her work colleague Boyd would like a more lasting partnership. In this instalment an unsolved missing person case, coming up to its 10th anniversary is brought into more immediate focus when a local woman goes missing in similar circumstances. I enjoyed the set up and the outline of the mystery that is dark and cruel. However, the book for me felt just too much like a repeat of previous incidents in Lottie’s exhausting life. I was able to set it aside without any real drive to find out the motive and suspects involved. That said, Patrica is such an engaging writer and Lottie such a compelling character it was easy to pick up the story again fully informed from just my memory of what I had read earlier.I have another 2 books to read and while they will be good reads I’m sure I do hope they will add fresh energy into Lottie’s journey. Enjoy them for yourself you will not be disappointed.
