This book is a portal into the beautiful world of herbalism
I love the storytelling and recounting if true events. The author lovingly and respectfully shares cultural and healing practices of the Mayan people. Her insight is inspiring. I love this book because it has helped me appreciate and connect with plant allies. I am now enrolled in and herbal allies class. I’m super excited to put this book into practice. Blessings.

Interesting don’t know if it’s legit
Interesting read. I believe there is room in medicine for both traditional treatments and modern treatments. Purchased book to learn.

Abdominal massage needs a voice
I bought this book because I have been looking for the abdominal massage technique form Arvigo for many years. It really was a shame that it took so long to find it. If you are concerned about the health of your uterus or prostate or just health in general, or if you or someone you know is thinking about a hysterectomy, you need this book.I won't go in to details because it might make some uncomfortable, just try it.I also deeply love the part that addresses spiritual causes for physical, mental, and emotional health and some things to do about that kind of problem.I highly recommend this book for the home library. A definite legacy item.

Lovely
This book is full of all types of remedies and bits of information about health, healing and life. Some remedies are with rain forest herbs you would have to special order, and some are with everyday herbs and oils you could get at the health store or your local herb store, or backyard! I am very glad to have the addition of this wonderful book to my bookshelf! I would recommend getting her other book about her apprenticeship with Panti, the mayan healer. I got them both at the same time and am glad I did.

Nice book but left out the Spanish common names for plants
Well written and descriptions of plants are clear. Considering this was written about her experiences in Latin America I am surprised (and disappointed) that local names of the plants in Spanish were not used. I am in Costa Rica and will use the book but when I ask locally (in Spanish of course) the locals ask me what the Spanish name is. For those of us right in the jungle, it would have been helpful knowing the Spanish name for the plants too. For mist people I suspect, this will not matter!

The Home Remedies Book
This book is written well and gives a lot of information using natural remedies. For people who do not like to run to the pharmacy for medications at the drop of a hat, this is a great book giving you many natural suggestions with very good results and without side effects! It's a good book to have around for almost everything that ails you!

Excellent intorduction to home remedies
I picked up this book at a gift shop in Belize for the waiting room of my chiropratic practice in New York. It has attracted much attention and interest from my patients. The book is simple to follow and brings the timeless wisdom of an ancient healing tradition into practical use. In one case I recommended a remedy for headaches suggested by Ms. Arvigo. In conjuction with a program of chiropractic adjustments the remedy proved to be quite helpful. I would recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in natural healing.Bruce Schneider, D.C.New Paltz, NY

A very helpful book
The hard copy surpassed the e-book because of formattting. But, as a seeker of alternative modalities to allopathic medicine, I found this book quite interesting for offering simple remedies from a culture very different than my own. Procuring some of the herbs will be somewhat arduous, but the author provides a means to do that.

I had a prolapsed uterus and very painful periods. I started doing the massage every night ...
I ordered this book because of the directions on how to massage your uterus. I had a prolapsed uterus and very painful periods. I started doing the massage every night before going to sleep. It relaxes me immediately and helps me to fall asleep easier. An added bonus is a glowing face next morning. Did it help my painful periods? Well, I can say i no longer need to take painkillers. But was it the massage or the chi kung that I started doing religiously every day? I don't know, but it doesn't really matter since both practices are now part of my routine (the massage I no longer do daily). The final key to conquering my PMS was when I started to water fast the day before the bleeding. After that the pain is so minimal that I only use a hot water bottle if needed. I think the chi kung helps with balancing the hormones and I no longer am moody or have so many crying fits etc. But the mayan massage certainly had a part in my journey towards embracing my menstrual cycle and these days I honour and respect my body's wisdom and feel a deep connection with this special time of month when I can slow down, meditate more, read inspiring books and tune into not only my inner voice, but the voices of the women who lived before me, the voces of my mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and all the goddesses and witches of all ages.
