Pimpernel Classic Black Set of 4 Placemats – (15.7" x 11.7") 5mm Cork-Backed Board with Lacquered Finish & Exclusive Art Print, Heat & Stain Resistant Decorative Dining Table Mats

Because of my arthritis, I decided to change my daily dishes from heavier earthenware dishes to very lightweight Corelle dishes which are a very pure white and much whiter than the other dishes I was replacing. Therefore, I had to get new table mats these beautiful black with gold, trim mats, cork, from Pimperel. I have had other Pimpernel mats before and I’ve loved them so I knew I would love these too and I really do. It turns out that I like the look of my table now more than I did before and I’m really shocked! I have added a photo so you can see that the color all works together between the oriental rug below the table, the dishes, and what I have on the turntable Lazy Susan, which is black as well. I love love love these cork table mats! They’re so easy to clean, just wipe them with a damp sponge and then dry them off with a paper towel and they look very elegant.

A quality-product. Very stagger.

I was surprised to see this on Amazon, but they are exactly what I was looking for. They seem to be sturdy and with proper care they should last quite some time.

Good quality, but expensive .

I should have written this review two years ago. I have a number of sets of Pimpernel placemats that I have bought decades ago for myself and for gifts.I hadn't bought any for a while so I purchased these back in 2022 because I wanted to add to my "inventory". I have some that are decades old and have not shown any signs of wear. These newer ones have not worn well at all. Right from the beginning the surface wore off. They are black so I took a black sharpie to try to repair them but that didn't really help. Over the years I have used my Pimpernel placemats as hot mats as well as place mats so that my beautiful table is protected. I am so disappointed because I really love them.

These are a nice thickness and add a touch of elegance while protecting my table.

Quality may be lacking but decent

One already has a white spot on it where the black color has chipped off. I wipe these off carefully but just noticed the white spot. Really? I have not had them that long.

Good. Only problem is they sell place mats as box of four while the coasters are sets of six. I had to buy for eight sitting 2 boxes of place mats and two boxes of coasters.

Well made and thicker than some other cork mats we have had . Very elegant on table when not in use. Liked so much bought another set of 4 as backup in case one was ever damaged by some mishap.

These placemats are elegant looking and I really like them! I am using two of them to cover the top of an old side table. Now the didd table looks great and is useful again.
