Q: Do the lights have a timer?

No. They are battery powered. I just put a small length of white christmas tree lights in and around each house and put them on a timer at the plug.

Q: On 8 inch Porcelain 11 piece set - can lights be removed to insert new tea lights with timers? Or is battery box glued to structure's bottom?

If I remember right, yes you can remove the bottoms of them. I just don't know that a tea light will fit.

Q: Can you use acrylic paint on these?

They are glazed and fired already. Very pretty little set. But probably not what you’re looking for. You need ceramic blanks for Christmas villages. They are unfired and can be painted glazed and put in a kiln. Good luck!

Q: How big is each village holiday house?

the church is 7.5 tall .. with most other buildings 2.5x2.5 at the base 5-5" tall. HOWEVER... 1/2 the lights failed to work.. and the bat are good.. gonna return this defective set, the QC is just not good for most China products.. cheaply made too.
