Lonely Planet Central America on a shoestring (Travel Guide)

Just returned from our backpack through central america and really glad we have this to guide us. We stayed at new locations not in the previous guide, some new hostels etc. Very useful info on boarder crossing from Mexico to Guatemala. Not so good once you go off the tourist route. Like when we crossed from Livingston back into Guatemala by boat and then bused down to Victoria, to cross boarder into San Salvador. But hey, if your going to go your own way! Great guide all the same.

I love lonely planet books. Comprehensive and easy to use. Along woth internet and networking with fellow travellers, these books are great.

Having trotted around South East Asia with the physical Companion Guide, I think this is fantastic! No weight or space problem!Sketchy guide, which gets you on the backpacker circuit, but offers good starting off points.

A very helpful, concise, informative guide which has come in very handy whilst planning my trip, it includes lots of useful info including accomodation, transport, places of interest and dangers and annoyances.Although still a useful tool I slightly prefer the Rough Guide version as it includes more maps, prices in USD (as opposed to local currency which gives me no idea of the UK eqivalent) and includes a couple of key attractions which were missed off the Lonely Planet Guide.

These guides can be useful. Shame the maps are still poor despite an overall of their designs. Please get someone who understands and uses maps to design them. Ta :)

Currently travelling through Central America. Lonely planet books are a "most have" companion to any trek. This, like all the others, fails to disappoint

God advice and descripction of where to go and what you need to consider before you go.The book is enjoyable to read before your travel and during the travel it is priceless.
