Again, Columbia does not disappoint - I love this hat! I could have gone cheaper, but I'm glad I didn't! I've worn this on my recent kayak fishing trip (8 hours in SE Louisiana sun), cutting grass, and while doing other activities in the sun! This hat is extremely lightweight, but completely covers the scalp, neck, and ears from the blazing sun. It allowed me to only apply sunscreen to my face. The bill gives great face coverage from the sun and the lightweight fabric draping over the ears and neck is barely noticeable. Also, if you fold the drape under the cap when neck protection is not needed, the sheer fabric is not even noticeable under the cap. I also like the elastic tightening band rather than relying on an aggravating chin strap. 20 mph wind did not blow it off of my head while fishing.

The Columbia Schooner Bank Cachalot III one size. My hat size is usually around a 7 3/8 and it fits fine. If you find it a little to large, there is a draw cord in the back to adjust it to your size. This product is all as expected to be. Excellent,Very lightweight material with plenty of Sun protection. The neckguard covers the neck and ears appropriately. The actual neckguard cape doesn't conceal in any compartment but just cover it up inside the hat and it fits on your head like a regular ballcap. I've tried other brands and makes of hats but somehow never met my full expectations.If you're outdoors any length of time. in the intense sun or heat this product will not dissappoint!It works for me.

My wife and I are obsessed with pickleball but living in Alaska you mostly play indoors. Well we went to a pickleball clinic in San Diego and I cooked. No not cooked as in played pickleball well... cooked as in I burned my head shoulders knees and toes. Mainly my head and shoulders. I got this and it saved me from frying my skin off. I have a big head though... I wish this one size fits most fit me better. But it did the trick and kept me from burning worse. And it was fairly breathable.If your head runs big you might want to try somewhere else but for everyone else this is a great option.

Columbia quality, lightweight nylon fabric, elastic infinite band fitment. You can push the drape into the hat when you don't need the shading. However when you wear it with the drape down to shade your neck it covers your ears so close it muffles alot of sound and you may not like that feeling. I gave it 4 stars because it has a closed in feeling and I would have liked more fabric designed to flare away from the sides of your face otherwise its a perfect hat for the sun.

Bought this hat for sun protection while fly fishing. Very comfortable to wear and provides excellent protection. When the flap is not needed it can be tucked under the cap and is comfortable to wear. It is lightweight and the fabric launders well and will quickly dry. If worn when there is a noticeable wind you may want to secure the hat to your person with a hat keeper/tender. The flaps make it susceptible to being easily blown off of your head. A must have item for solar protection.

Although it is primarily described as a fishing hat, I actually find it quite useful on the golf course. The reason I tried it out there, was because the sunblock lotions were found to be permanently staining the collars of my golf shirts. I no longer needed to use any sunblock lotion at all. I also found that I was actually a little bit more comfortable while golfing on a hot day. The only thing I would improve upon would be to make the neck flap a couple of inches longer to help ensure against sunlight getting in between it and the shirt collar

Cap looks great, good quality and really light weight, but it was supposed to be an "adjustable one size fits all" but it desn't fit my head, it's too small even with the adjustable cord opened at its maximum. I hadn't had that problem with other adjustable caps before, but this one it's too small. And the rear shade is to close to the neck and ears (it covers the ears to much and you hear different) making it unconfotable to wear. I'm returning this one and buying a wider one. But it you have a normal to small head maybe it's OK for you.

I have to wear a sun hat due to a skin condition. This one is much smaller than the previous one I had, also made by Columbia. The previous one was made of a really light weight nylon type material and had a longer bill and more ample veil. On this new one, the veil is minimal, the bill is short and the hat is hot! The first one I had kept me cool, but the material in this new one makes me sweat. I still like it, just not as much as my first one.
