Purification of the Heart: Signs, Symptoms and Cures Af the Spiritual Diseases of the Heart

This is a remarkable book very well written/translated. Like all Sufi text i find it to be one that can be picked up at any part of the book and find wisdom. The book is full of wise sayings and traditions of Prophets and discusses the many diseases of the heart, the reasons for them and how they can be cured. Its remarkable to read a book like this the difference between what is commonly viewed of Islam in the media and what can be found in these pages is almost black and white. Reading a book like this I only wish more would read this book and reflect upon it. "A man saw the Prophet kiss a baby and asked him, "Do you kiss your children?" The Prophet said "Indeed I do." Then man then said, "I have ten children, I never kissed any of them," which was considered an aspect of the pride of being a tough Arab. To that the Prophet replied, "There is nothing in my religion for a man whose heart is void of mercy" (Except from the book)

I've had this book for many years and bought a number of copies for friends and family. It is an essential go-to when i'm feeling down. There's always and emotion or trait described within it which happens to be the ill causing my turbulence. The advice and guidance is like a cooling balm on the heart, reminding me of how to manage my emotions and contextualising things into a bigger picture, changing and reorganising my outlook making me feel better and more enlightened every time.

Has snapshot overview pages on each of the 'diseases' of the heart (anger, jealousy, envy etc) and how Islam teaches Muslims to work on these. I personally found this a wonderful book and tend to dip into selected pages fairly frequently. Was a long wait before it arrived on Amazon! I bought my first copy from the USA and paid twice its price due to delivery charges (well worth it though). Potentially also quite useful for those interested in Islam and its teachings, but worth remembering that the book was written for practising Muslims (and is based a text written by Ghazali many years ago).

This book is amazing, it explains the diseases and the cures for each of the diseases of the heart. It is taken from a Classical Arabic book. This book will really make you contemplate! A must read!

Great translation of a great scholars work by another great modern day scholar. Highly recommended and acts as a refresher for the hearts purification

This book is the very well written and explains the diseases of ones heart profoundly. A must for anyone seeking to cleanse their heart.
