Spoiler-free: A story about a girl who can't stop asking Santa questions! Fun and well illustrated!
This is such a fun picture book about a girl’s adventure when Santa visits her home. During Christmas Eve a young girl spots Santa laying presents by her bed, could it really be Mr Santa? As she spends time with him she asks him questions, but what will Mr Santa answer? The hardback has some lovely embossing on the front and is filled with thick matt pages of some fun illustrations and text. The story begins with the girl spotting Santa delivering presents and she can’t help but be excited as she starts asking him lots and lots of questions. We see Santa sitting with the girl as she asks her questions, or listening to her play her instrument, seeing her fishes and eventually taking the girl on a sleigh ride, all the while the girl continues asking so many questions. I love how in this story the girl just can’t help but ask so many questions, the sort of questions I’m sure many children have wanted to ask Santa in the past, but it’s also fun how Santa doesn’t seem to ever answer her and the story finishes in a brilliant way.The illustrations are all fun and have some nice detail with Santa and the enthusiastic girl looking fun in each image. There’s a blue hue to all of the pictures, reminding you that the book is happening at night, and I do love the way some of the illustrations, especially the sleigh ride, that image with the bus and the final pictures of the book look too. The story has a fun ending which is perfect and there is some good rhyming too. It’s a very fun tale about a visit that a girl has from Santa and I’m sure it will be enjoyed by many children, and adults.-Thanks to Walker Books for a free copy.

Exceptional, quirky, different and addictive
What a jolly Christmas picture book. Jarvis barely puts a brushstroke wrong in his picturebooks, and this is no exception. A gloriously punchy book filled with personality, as a small child wakes on the first page to find Santa sneakily pulling candy cane from his sack, presumably to leave in the child’s dangling stocking. What follows is the very essence of childhood, as the child proceeds to question Santa about everything – from the querying ‘have you wiped your shoes,’ and Santa’s beautifully held palm to cheek as he sees not!, to the ‘Isn’t gingerbread delicious’? Even the way the questions are asked zings with personality – ‘Dogs or cats, Mr Santa? You have to choose.’ The child is both delightfully polite, and yet also forthright, curious, engaging and fun. The facial expressions are exquisite, and the places the pair go are intriguing, and reminiscent of The Snow Man of course, and yet stunningly all their own. The ending too, completely justified. An exceptional Christmas picturebook you will want to re-read more than just every Christmas. With thanks to Walker for the ARC

Beautiful artwork
The artwork in this book is beautiful. It captures the magic of Christmas and entices the reader to find out more of the story. My little ones are so excited about Christmas already and this book has helped spark the joy of it even moreso.

Perfect for the festive period
Mr Santa by Jarvis is a children’s festive picture book about a little girl who discovers Santa as he is leaving her a candy cane and she has so many questions she wants answered. From ‘What is your favourite colour?’ to ‘Do you have to stop at traffic lights?’ the little girl wants to know everything. The story is perfect for little ones, especially inquisitive youngsters, though Santa doesn’t actually answer any of her questions. You are even left wondering whether the little girl really did meet Santa or whether she dreamt of their adventure together. The illustrations are full-page, and the colours are quite dull, with many different shades of blue that help to give the story a Christmassy feel to it. It contains just a few words per double-page so it a very short and quick read. It would also be a good choice of book for a new reader.Overall, Mr Santa is a very cute and adorable read, perfect for the festive period.I received a free copy of this book, which I voluntarily reviewed

How absolutely adorable!
Awwwwwwww! What a lovely simple idea and how wonderfully sweet this is.A child wakes up on Christmas Eve to see Santa at the bottom of the bed. And as almost any child would do, this one asks question after question after question. It's a very child-centric rhyming story, it sounds just like a small, curious person asking inane questions - does Santa have an outie or an innie? Does he stop at traffic lights? Is my brother on the naughty or nice list? And of course, that perennial question at the end, when it's morning and the magic of the night before has faded...Love Jarvis's style of drawing, and love every unique book created. This is a great Christmas story for excited children. For ages 2-6.With thanks to Walker Books for providing a sample reading copy.

‘Mr Santa, are we nearly there?’
Just one of a number of questions asked by the little one in yellow pyjamas, in this sweet rhyme, which ends with the biggest one of all.Measuring around 27.5 cm x 23.5 cm, the thick board front cover is slightly raised for the 2 characters and the titling, with a slight sheen embellishment that glistens mischievously in the change of light. The story runs across 32 good quality, matte-finish pages set in double-page spread format. As shown in the current stock images + the ‘Read Sample’ above, the pictures are on the ‘fuzzy’ side, but clear enough to offer scope for further discussion, with subtle little changes here & there, such as the inside cover pages. At the front, ‘Mr Santa’ + his sleigh are rising in the dappled night-time sky; they are positioned lower down at the back! Some miles are covered between said covers. The text is in black throughout, occasionally italicised or capitalised for emphasis. We like it!Sincere thanks to Walker Books for this pre-release copy.ooOooFrom the back cover (image below refers):🎅~‘Mr Santa, are we lost? Can you eat clouds?Have you met Jack Frost?’🌨️
