It's cheap, but it works
The charger I originally received in 2009 with my Studio 1555 had started to fray around the laptop connector end and no longer worked. I needed a new one. Considering the laptop is 6 1/2 years old, I didn't want to have to spend too much on a part for a machine I may be replacing entirely in not too long. This one was cheap and relatively well reviewed. It works and has worked with no problems for the full month I've had it. My only complaint is that it's much lighter weight than the original charger, which makes it feel flimsy. (I would also like it if the cable connector to the laptop were more secure - it comes loose annoyingly easily - but that's not so much a flaw in this particular charger as it is with Dell's design.) Otherwise, it's working beautifully.

It's OK--just barely
I bought this adapter/charger as a spare, for travel and for using my laptop elsewhere in the house than the desk. It does both power the computer and charge the battery (contrary to the experience of some other reviewers). It is described on this site as a 90-watt adapter, although there's no indication on the adapter itself what the wattage is. It meets the requirements pretty well, but here are some points to be aware of: (1) the power plug is a 2-prong, unpolarized, not a 3-prong; (2) the power cord is only 3 ft. 3 in., not the 6 ft. 5 in. that came with the laptop; (3) I occasionally get a warning about an unrecognized adapter, but if I remove the plug from the computer and reinsert it, it works fine again; (4) it says on the back of the adapter that it is in the PA-10 family, which is not one of the three adapter types listed on the back of my Dell Studio 1555. All in all, I am not comfortable with using it now that I've discovered it's in the PA-10 family, and I think it's worth paying a little more to be on the safe side. I am going to buy a replacement through Amazon today for $16.15 plus $2 shipping--a genuine Dell PA-2E adapter.

A series of disappointments
I received the product today and it works, but it is a lower quality than was shown in the image. The image looked nearly identical to the charger that originally came with the laptop, but the one I received had a far smaller wire and the plug was two prong while the original was thicker with a three prong plug. I haven't had a chance to test to see if it charges slower, but due to the decreased capacity of the cable, I wouldn't be surprised.***UPDATED*** The battery charges very slow and the voltage is incorrect for the device even though it is advertised laptop. Whenever the new power plug is attached, all peripherals (usb mouse, usb headphones) cease to work. The moment I unplug the new plug, each device begins to work immediately. DO NOT GET THIS PRODUCT if you wish to do anything substantial while your laptop is charging.PROS: The cable does charge my laptop.CONS: The image does not match the product I received. It charges much slower than the original. I can not use usb peripherals while it is plugged in. The cables for the device are super slim and a very different design than the original or the picture.

Battery Charger
I purchased this battery charger to replace the one that came with my computer. I was hesitant because the price was so low, but my son, who is a computer tech, said that the he has purchased the lower priced ones and they work fine. He is so right! I purchased this charger and am delighted to say this product works great! The cord is very long, longer than the one that came with my computer, and the light goes off when the computer is fully charged, which the original one did not do. I paid less than $5.00 for this and I know the original manufacturer of my computer wanted over $30.00 for their battery charger. Before you buy a product, sometimes it pays to try the least expensive one - you just might save yourself a bundle!

It works!... sort of but I fixed it
Okay so i received this with happiness and when i tried it, it worked!... for a minute. My computer wasn't charging but the adapter was giving enough juice that it stops at 29% battery but not charging. I got upset. I did ask for a return, however before i threw this in the box to return with swift anger, what I did is change the plug cord with the old one i had. It started working fine! But it needs to be unplugged when not charging, I'm afraid of it heating up and burning out. So try what i did, replace the plug cord instead of the given one. For the price is good but the seller should keep in mind the plug cord is the problem, well for me it was. I have about a month with it so I will see how it goes from here on out. Also for those who have their computer not recognizing the adapter, try resetting the computer with it on and then again off, i guess you could consider it a reset for a download. It worked for me as well. Best of luck to all and again, replace the plug cord.

Not worth the $10
This adapter did not charge, only powered the Dell Studio 1555. If it came unplugged, it immediately shut off. After two days, it no longer even did that. I went ahead and just ordered an official Dell. My daughter does virtual school, and is missing days due to this. I'm hoping it didn't do damage to my fairly new battery. Don't take a chance. Spend the extra $10 and get the actual slim adapter.

Skip the off brand for your charging needs
This product lasted a month while being used daily for my Dell computer. I ended up buying the name brand and it is much better.

Back in business.
I was a bit surprised that it's a two-prong, rather than a three-prong, plug, but that is what the photo shows. In spite of that, I'm very happy to be able to use my laptop again.
